Looking to buy second hand scooter in Phuket

Featured Replies

I had a deal fall through for a Yamaha Nouvo Elegance. I understand it's a 135cc which is the highest you can get on a scooter.

Anyone know any similar powered bikes for sale?

Will be arriving in Phuket in 2 weeks. Any recommendations on where to go and check out some bikes?

I don't know of any deals, maybe check the Thai Visa classifieds section, and it's actually possible to buy a larger cc scooter such as the Honda PCX 150 cc or the Forza 300 cc,as well as others to many to mention.

Cool. Any locations around phuket to stop and check out a few bikes?

Sorry I'm miles from Phuket, maybe someone will be along shortly.

Rent the model you like first, then you will see if its suitable. You can get a Tmx thats 500cc, if you really want to!

Yeah, but trying to keep the budget to 30,000 baht max. I've never owned a bike before. I've driven scooters around the place before etc, but never owned one. A manual bike might be a little too powerful as well for me and herself :)

Get here first. Then once you are settled in go out and rent a variety of bikes for a week each time.

it is low season so deals are there for the taking and you get to experience the different sizes.

Then once you have settled on a bike that you like and feel comfortable and capable to ride you can then go over to Phuket Town and visit the dealers.

But please, please, please remember to take out travel insurance that covers you for renting a bike of all cc ratings. Many will not cover you under a certain cc and then only if you hold a driving licence for that capacity in your home country.

As a former hotel manager I have had to deliver the bad news to too many relatives... don't become a statistic.. yes, you get your name in the newspapers but it's not much use if you can't read them.

Thanks for the advice. I will take all that on board for sure. Travel insurance is already booked, but I will ring them up and see what the story is with cover for scooters etc.

The escalator foyer from Jungceylon carpark up into Robinson's is a makeshift showroom for used bikes, dozens to choose from.

Buy like the Thais do. A deposit and monthly payments.

Phuket town is probable the best. Do a bit of leg work. The locals up there are also much more helpful than the degenerates in Patong

I seriously doubt if a newly arrived farang can get finance on anything at all, like Thais do..

traffic lights just before Robinson Phuket Town have two shops either side have atleast 50 second hand bikes for sale.

Yes you can. There was a Question and Answer about it in the PG.

He also has a girlfriend who definitely can get finance.

So long as she is willing to act as guarantor. Usually by insisting on having the bike registered in her name biggrin.png

And only if she is a Thai...has OP said that she is?

If , as i believe she is not Thai, my post stands ie no finance available

No, my girlfriend is Irish, like myself. I don't fancy buying new.

Budget is 30000 baht.

Budget is 30000 baht.

In that case you won't be able to buy on credit. Cash only.
