Ricardo
the TAT has laid down a strategy to pull more tourists from the middle and lower segments of growing markets that include China, Russia and India. One can only assume that the recent conference to decide how to boost high-end tourists to 40% finally saw sense, and that the TAT has done a U-turn, and will in future try to boost those parts of the market which actually work, rather than continuing to live in Amply-Rich Elite-HiSo La-La Land ? In which case good for them, it's a far better plan, they must have been reading Thai-Visa !
Popular Post Robby nz
These "Domestic Tourists" would be the ones who recently got a minimum wage increase to 300 baht and now have plenty of money to travel, right? Wasn't it just last week the minister was telling us how he wanted to increase the high end tourists? Now TAT want to entice more bottom end tourists. The ones in the middle must be feeling left out.

Popular Post Jasun
"The tourism authority also aims to place greater importance on the tourism activities of the underprivileged and the handicapped." As an able-bodied person, I struggle to walk down the footpaths in Thailand's tourist areas. I don't know how someone with a physical disability could possibly cope. Perhaps putting money into getting basic infrastructure right woud be better spent than a PR campaign. Edited July 10, 2013 by Jasun

jaltsc
"The tourism authority also aims to place greater importance on the tourism activities of the underprivileged and the handicapped" With utility poles and merchants' crap blocking the middle of every walking street in Chiang Mai and other smaller tourist areas, and no wheel chair ramps in most eating or guest house establishments, I doubt physically disabled individuals would have access to more tourism activities. Just another pipe dream without thinking out the details necessary to achieve the empty promises TIT Edited July 10, 2013 by jaltsc

newermonkey
Yes they should call the campaign : "In Your Dreams" or "Only in Your Dreams" or "Dream on Buddy" For Thais reading this the expression is translated to: Not true, Get real, Keep on wishing cos it aint gonna happen. TAT must be making this stuff up surly? (stop calling me Shirley!) They obviously don't have an advertising agency or even a sales team ! They must be a bunch of idiots, morons & fools. Use the word dream in any campaign and they are saying its not real in the minds of the audience. I think they copied this from Boeing.
