Seems strange on a motoring forum which has a large number of expats we don't get to see any drag racing....or other international motor sports that would be of interest....and worthy of discussion.

I am sure many Thai members would be interested as well.

We had such a video posted by Transam and immediately closed for lack of Thai relevance. Personally, I am not really interested.

Lots of drag racing videos on Youtube. There are two? (minimum) drag venues here to visit? There might even be some on Facebookwhistling.gif

Mmmm, maybe I am thinking along the wrong lines. Discussing car, or motorbike racing, crashes of a spectacular nature, notable evens and feats of daring do are something I though were subjects of interest to many of us. As with any thread the none motoring enthusiast is not required to read it.

Maybe it's the constant stream of inane threads that seem to now be part and parcel of the motoring section that have worn away my good nature?

Like, if you don't know what battery you have in the pick-up, read the owners manual or look it up on the net!

If you can't make up your mind which little tin can to buy to go to Macro.....don't bother us, they are all the same despite what badge is on the bonnet!

What coloured benzene goes with my corduroy trousers....I really don't give a stuff!

Maybe I should stick to the bike section, that's only half as annoying! Which may be something to do with the number of wheels??? rolleyes.gif.pagespeed.ce.hZ59UWKk-s.gif

Iam an avid drag racing person coming from building them professionally and also crew on a supercharged outlaw vehicle.

I try to watch all the NHRA races where possible and will be out in Vegas later in the year to catch Top Fuel's run at the Mello Yellow Toyota Nationals as well as a visit to Sema finishing up at Pomona to watch more Top Fuel at the NHRA Auto Club Finals.

Would be nice to have other enthusiast's post up vids and what not, even just updates of the weekends racing.

Bad day at the office......

That's what I am talking about. An interesting pix were something goes wrong at 200mph! The driver will walk away shaken and stirred....and looking forward to his next pass in an hour!

This I agree with.

But why foreign drag racing videos here? There are many other places to do this. Youtube?

This is, I thought , a Thai forum for people living in Thailand.

Oh and can we add to your list of inane posts stories about how badly Thais drive. They were here long before we got here so we should be the one's adapting not them.

Don't like buses or mini vans then if one sees one simply pull over until it has gone. Drive in an empty space and try and keep up with the traffic.

They do drag race in LOS on drag strips , If I could afford it I would be too. There has never been an F1 race in LOS yet you lot at times discuss it. Yes/No ? rolleyes.gif

Yes as has been said there are two strips minimum. I believe there is even a token rail here.

F1?

Things are mostly only done here if there is "something in it". The reason why there is no decent F1 style track. Even Sing doesn't have a permanent facility. Singapore's surrogate track is in KL. Indonesia doesn't have a decent one? None of our other neighbours has one? Korea is trying but...

If Prince Bira was still alive or if the current King was a petrol head maybe different?

Bottom line not enough grass roots racing to justify one? Not even any 1/4 mile dirt ovals with jalopy racing!

Why do you feel a need to polute every thread in the motoring section with your nonsensical dribble, you drive people away from the threads including myself.

Some like it some dont, just like your posts.thumbsup.gif

Easy solution for me then isnt it, I'll refrain from posting in any thread you have polluted.

Maybe there are a lot of people who also find this to be the most boring form of car racing there is. Two cars go as fast as they can in a perfectly straight line for a few seconds .... yawn. It really only tests the drivers reaction time for the starting lights and the ability of the mechanics to make the car go fast.

Perhaps you miss the point of a sport. I took a dinosaur yank and worked on it with little money until in the end I could beat a brand new Ferrari on the strip. If you have never sat in a V8 monster that does a 0-60 in less than four seconds then you cannot comment. We all get our buzz from something, I got mine from G-force and sound. thumbsup.gif

May I add, that the most prestigious running race in athletics is the straight line 100 metre dash, wonder why when there are many roundy, roundy races. coffee1.gif

LOL -- I thought it was the moderators who decide when we can't comment. Don't be daft! Of course I can comment.

In all fairness, I think you're the one missing the point. You talk about this sport from the perspective of someone who is involved in the actually modification and driving of these vehicles. That's a situation that very very few of us get to (or want to) experience. I've described the "sport" from the spectator's point of view, and for many people like myself it's very boring -- a lot of noise, burning rubber, and then 2 vehicles going in a straight line for a few seconds -- whoopy, lets wait for another 5 or 10 minutes to see few more seconds of boring racing.
