Swedish murder suspect found dead in Thailand

A 27-year-old Swede internationally wanted for a murder on the Canary Islands has been found dead.
He disappeared shortly after the murder three weeks ago and was found dead in Thailand last Sunday.

- We can confirm that he is dead and that relatives have been informed, says Carolina Ekéus, press officer at the Swedish national police.

The man was suspected of the murder of
32-year-old Angela de Carmen, a Canary Islands resident. The couple had met on a dating site.
The woman was found dead in the apartment of the 27-year-old in Las Palmas on July 15, and the murder is believed to have occurred about 10 days earlier, on 4 or July 5.

Investigations showed that the 27-year-old shortly afterwards fled abroad, he bought a plane ticket to Düsseldorf airport on July 5.
After that he vanished and according to some information, he could have been hiding in Turkey.
- According to sources he entered Thailand on July 17 and found dead on July 21, says Carolina Ekéus.
Police have since worked to confirm his identity and his relatives were notified on Wednesday.

Police in Thailand confirms that he has been found dead. They also found a letter in Swedish that they now are trying to translate.

The man was found in a house belonging to a friend of his in Issan.
- There is nothing to suggest that crime was committed, says police Capt. Voraporn Chiangsa of the Royal Thai Police

The man was previously a profile in organized crime in southern Sweden.
He has been convicted several times in recent years. On at least four occasions he has assaulted people, both strangers outside nightclubs and a girlfriend at home. He has also been convicted of drug offenses, offenses against the Arms Act and unlawful threats.

Translated from Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet.

Gee what are the odds..... :-) Perhaps if the police checked immigration records and looked to see if anyone has entered with the last name of Carmen........ :-) He sounds like a bit of a bad boy, Thailand could certainly do with less people like that. Guess the computers at immigration are not really hooked to anything, as it seems entering Thailand with a long record of crime is a piece of cake..

You expect every country in the world, to do a search on their immigration database, for every criminal, from every part of the world who committed a serious crime ?

Why is this in Isaan Forum?

Doesn't anybody bother to read the article first?

I like the irony of this = poster is "EyesWideOpen" then goes and quotes the surname of the deceased female "Carman" as being the deceased male from Sweden.

But I agree with the fact that Thailand needs less of the criminal types. So all in all no great loss, except to his relatives.

So if I get it right from the OP.

The picture of the murderer is blocked out to protect his privacy, while the picture of the victim is shown in all it's glory.

Yeah, right.

I wonder what killed him.

Who cares ?

It's one piece of scum that you, I or any other vulnerable girl has to worry about crossing our path.

Just a shame we still have to look out for the other Million odd scum walking our planet.

Yes, how do they get into Thailand? Rumor has it, that employees at the Passport-Contol at the Airport are actually watching TV soap operas on their computer screen just with no sound (which isen't necessary in the first place), and their keyboard activity serves the purpose of changing channels.

Why is the small-time or big-time criminal crowd not aware of the fact, that Cambodia is the place to go. Why Thailand and ruin it for the rest of us?

I have traveled Cambodia and I have met plenty of "Barangs". I got the impression that most of them have a good reason to be in Cambodia and nowhere else, especially not in their home-country.

Cheers.

thumbsup.gif Very well put.

I wonder what killed him.

My guess is a drug overdose since he's been apparently involved with drugs before.

Very optimistic.

OK Thanks. So if the rope was made in Chonburi, maybe it should be in the Pattaya forum!
