How many of Thaksin's initiatives were for the benefit of Thailand, rather than fobs to keep people off his back? We can only guess, only he knows the answers.

We are witnessing, I believe, what Thailand will become post-Thaksin's-return. Even accepting the on-going corruption, we are witnessing an apparent intolerance of any anti-government rhetoric.

Thaksin is devisive. As such, his return will only polarize Thailand. We have the supporters of the reds defending everything on the basis of 'well the amarts' did it all before and, I believe, the non-reds hoping for a new chapter in thailand's future.

Thaksin's return will, IMO, just provide the ingredients for a North and South Thailand.

Remember, a dictatorship is a strong government. Is it worth throwing democracy away for Thaksin's vision of a 'one party democracy'?

To add to your statement. Dr. Thaksin has not been officially a leader since his ouster in 2006 so he could possibly qualify under the Worachai bill. The courts will strike the law down because it does not equally give amnesty to all criminals. Dr. Thaksin broke criminal laws and not just civil laws; he was not a protester.
