NCC1701A
you all beat me to it. US citizenship? She just shot herself in the head. I wonder if she has any idea what is in store for her?
Jasun
Tell your wife the child does not have your permission to leave, and let the authorities know. If she goes ahead, she's in breach of The Hague Convention of International Child Abduction, which Thailand is a signatory.

mania
you all beat me to it. US citizenship? She just shot herself in the head. I wonder if she has any idea what is in store for her? While that is true a dual citizen always has the option of renouncing one of them. Something we US only citizens cannot do as your not allowed to renounce unless you have another in place Also a Thai citizen can open bank accounts etc with their Thai card & will never be scrutinized by the various reporting laws forced on Thai banks that open accounts for US citizens. So it may not be as bad holding both.
Cheapcharly
US guys who say it s good to have both citizenship are talking crap, it s because they don't know what it feels to be free. Look guys, not owning usa citizenship means: no tax report No irs No fbar. No 1xxx forms to report No stock or bonds to report No gift tax No income to report. No fear to be terrorized because you are a us citizen. No death tax No business tax No Obama care No fine No extension time request No refusal from foreign banks Non-threatening or penalty from irs mafia. No irs knocking at your door pointing guns at you. No sleepless nights No jail No federal tax No state tax Etc. Many countries don't give a s... If your left your country. But USA is not one of these countries. Thai with little money are much better than any USA guys. Edited August 8, 2013 by Cheapcharly

Arkady
Of course she can enter Thailand on her Thai passport and no compulsion to renounce either nationality. If she enters on her US passport, she can go to Immigration and get a one year extension before her visa expires on the basis that she is a Thai national. The boy is also a Thai citizen and should also be able to get a one year extension automatically, if he entered on a foreign passport. Doesn't matter much anyway because there is no legal penalty for overstays by minors.
