Hi,

I got married a few months ago and I want to go to Laos for a visa.

I don't have money in the bank so I think I'm looking for a "Non Immigrant O Multi Entry" on the grounds of marriage.

It's easier to for me to go to Vientiane than Savanakhet but I'm worried that Vientiane might not give me a "Multi Entry",My passport is full of 15 day exemptions.

So my questions are,is Vientiane O.k for multi entry and what paperwork do I need.

Only Savanakhet is known to issue a multiple non-O, Vientiane will only issue a single.

You will need full marriage papers (original marriage certificate) and some more paperwork, including (signed) copy of wife's ID-card and household registration book.

You do not have to have "money in the bank" Income of 40,000bht/month evidenced by an Embassy letter will suffice to secure an extension of stay based on marriage.

Thanks,

So it looks like Savanakhet i'm heading for.

Is there some where i can check exactly what paperwork I need.

I found one on this website,

My main question now is do I need my wifes' origonal tabian bahn or

will a copy do.

I also want to fly from Bangkok so which is the nearest airport to mukdahan in Isan

In my experience taking originals of marriage cert, marriage registration or for that matter all documents is always a good idea as I have witnessed the officer asking to see them when just copies have been produced initially.

The nearest airport to Mukdahan is Nakon Phanom.

Great help everyone,

I will try to bring originals of everything if I can,

Changing the subject slightly,I just discovered that if I leave it until September 2nd,

Air asia is really cheap.

This helps me a lot as I have to fly chang rai/bangkog/isan and back.

So I might go to mae sai and get a 15day exemption to tide me over.

Go to Bahrain. Take :

1. Marriage certificate

2. Copy of both sides of your wife's Thai ID card;

3. Passport (2 blank opposite pages and passport must be valid for the period of the visa-i.e 6 months/year);

4. Completed application form.

The Thai Embassy there is quiet and you can get things done in 1 day.

Why bother with the potential problems in Laos!!

You will find air aisia is not really cheap they indulge in false advertising. your fuel surcharge and taxes will remain the same, you will find the cost of the actual flight is a fraction of the full cost you will be lucky to save 200 baht, just go ahead and go through the rituals of booking on line and you will see what I mean, However overall AA is a low cost airline

I received a one year multi entry O visa on Tuesday at Savannakhet.

I took originals of wedding certificate, wife's tabienbahn, ID card, and also copies of above, signed by wife.

Also took wife, original, not a copy. My passport plus a signed photocopy.

As i used the Savan Vegas visa service, and they ask for proof of funds, also took my Thai bankbook with a quarter of a million baht

in it.Photocopy of this signed by me. Don't know if really needed, but savan vegas said new man at the consulate.

From my experience, and a friend of mine also, that in addition to the paperwork mentioned from other TV posters you will also need a letter from your wife politely asking if the embassy could issue you the visa. My letter explains my work schedule, my wife's Thai ID number, my passport number, and why I come to Thailand. Admittedly I always get the visa in KL and not the embassy you're going too, but a pretty expensive letter if you don't have it. My friend didn't take his one time and they made him fax it to them when he got home. It seemed to be pretty important to them.

Mae Sai is quite a trip from Mukdahan, why not an Immigration office closer..??

Page Savan Vegas, talk to them they do very good deals on visas - consider flying to Savannaket, ask Vegas for requirements- they are at the embassy everyday so can ask direct if required.

Puy 500 Tbt on # 32 for me ;-) Chok Dee
