BANGKOK, August 8 - National police chief Pol Gen Adul Saengsingkaew said the Centre for the Administration of Peace and Order (CAPO) may consider whether to lift the Internal Security Act before August 10 as situation is tending to turn normal.

The police chief said that at this afternoon’s meeting, CAPO will assess the overall result of yesterday's anti-government demonstrations against the parliamentary debate on the highly-criticised amnesty bill and what will be the next stage of the scenario.

He said CAPO will also consider whether the ISA now imposed in three districts of Bangkok -- Phra Nakhon, Pomprab Satrupai and Dusit between August 1-10 should be lifted before its expiry date.

Initially, he said, the agency will continue its security operations but will ease its strict measures to allow public commuting in some routes earlier banned for safety reasons.

Meanwhile, Thaikorn Polsuwan, a leader of the People’s Army against Thaksin Regime (PATR), said the group has formed a working committee to closely monitor the deliberations on the controversial amnesty bill.

Mr Thaikorn said the movement will continue to encamp at Lumpini Park until Saturday, saying he will wait and see whether the ISA will remain in force after that day. (MCOT online news)

What, like the 9th?

No, no don't do that.

Let the cops stay standing in the rain and heat all done up in their riot gear, the longer they stay there the more they will be questioning the decision to have an ISA in the first place.

The longer it goes on the more pissed off the people of BKK will become with the problems the ISA is making for them and the less likely they are to support the Govt.

Great idea this ISA almost as productive as buying rice.

The final call will be determined by a game of hi-lo.

What, like the 9th?

Yep, they needed a positive headline and I guess most people can't count.
