Novotel Lotus Sukhumvit Soi 33 is the best ever for me but if you aren't staying at the hotel I don't know how much it would cost. wai.gif

Intruiging thread....what makes one bufet superior to another I wonder?

I mean...eggs to order is standard for any buffet. Quality of ingredients is the only possible exception surely?

hmmm... this forum can sure be difficult to get straight answers to a simple request of suggestions. I always enjoy the breakfast buffet at Café Mozu in lebua at State Tower. Opens at 6am. I don`t know the price for non-guests. A large mix of local and international delicacies, pastries, fresh baked breads, cheeses, homemade preserves, eggs to order, hot cakes, REAL sausages, juices, Thai, Japanese, American and British. Also included is pork products which is sometimes left out of Bkk breakfast buffets. Newspapers are available to read. And the café opens up to the open-air swimming pool so you can sit outside or inside. Reasonably decent coffee and tea.

The only other that I am familiar with (I am just a sometimes visitor) is the Lohas Suites, formerly Amari Sukhumvit Residences on soi 2. I do not recommend it. Good egg station but poor selection, weak coffee and no pork sad.png .

+1 for Lebua. Been a while since I stayed there but the breakfast experience there was memorable - not just the food but the atmosphere as well.

Everyone is of course going to have differant preferances.

Mine to some extent depends on the length of stay, if I am just over nighting then OJ, toast, omelette and good bacon is enough.

If I am staying a week or longer I certainly prefer a varied selection. Good egg bar with a chief who can cook properly to order, fried noodles, rice porridge with all the condements (Vietnamese style Chao is the best). Good selection of fresh fruit jucies and fresh fruit, a cheese board. Crispy streaky bacon (real bacon of course) and real pork sausages, grilled tomatoes. Good selection of breads and rolls.

The above is usually available at most decent hotels in Asia although sometimes in Malaysia, Indo and even Singapore you will end up at a breakfast with no pork products, always best to confirm that a non-halal menu is available.

I agree....but I would head to the Oriental for that in Bangkok....or the Peninsula.

Proper quality there.

Any place that does the bacon right would be greatly appreciated. Can't stand the piles of undercooked bacon sitting on a greasy bed of bread in a big tray. Yuck!

The Dusit Thani does the best buffet I have ever come across. The quality, variety and service is exceptional, you won't need to eat lunch for sure, probably dinner too but it was 750 Baht last time. Well worth it though.

Well you didn't give any price range, but the best I have been to is Centara hotel.

It's expensive.. I think 1200-1800 depending on if you choose to have wine or not. But it has a huge buffet, three rooms full of every type of food.

Last time I went I had asparagus pasta, dim sum, zucchini pie, some Japanese bbq meat, and a lot of cakes. Great way to start a Sunday.

Keep in mind you could go to 3 or 4 more regular restaurants for the same price, but I don't know what your price range is. Good for a one-off, perhaps.

Sheraton grande sukhumvit for Bangkok. Breakfast or brunch.

Best breakfast in Asia - Shangri la hotrl jakarta (better than the Shang flag ship hotel in Hong Kong I think ).

I was busted once putting undercooked greasy bacon through the conveyor toaster. Not one of my finer moments, may have had somethig to do with the fact I just got back to the hotel after a big night out.

The OP might not have given a price range, but he did give a meal period... Breakfast... Not Brunch...

For me, the Four Seasons can't be beat... Something about being able to sit outside enjoying fresh food, endless espresso coffees...

I stayed at the porn ping tower in Chiang mai once an would ask the omelette cook to please fry my bacon for me. After some quizzical looks from the boss, she was given the go ahead. Made me feel real special. Lol!

Best BF option:

the JOK stall next to the entrance of the housing estate where I live does a mean JOK GAI.

it cost 25 THB , but if you are not in my area, you have to consider the 7 THB Bus fare to get there and another 7 THB to get back to your (5-star?) Hotel ;-)

Everyone that visits from the US loves the stick-moo they sell out in front of the plant in the morning. It’s far and away the best I’ve had, and I’ve had it all over Thailand, in nice hotels or restaurants and on the street. Five sticks and a fist full of sticky-rice for twenty Baht.

I don’t want to know what their secret is…
