Hey guys just wondering if anyone out there could help with a massive problem

I am a New Zealander with a NZ passport and several months ago i tried to enter Australia to live and work

This is normally very straight forward for a New Zealander to do on arrival in the country unless you have criminal convictions ( more than 12 months jail )

I was refused entry and sent back to where i came from witch was Bangkok where i had been holidaying

then Bangkok refused entry into the kingdom and sent me back to my home country.

I have now found out through an immigration contact of a friend that i am blacklisted and can not re enter Thailand again. hit-the-fan.gif.pagespeed.ce.6UelFDbFNJ.

I have entered Thailand dozens of times over the last 5 or more years and have never done anything wrong apart from a one day accidental overstay.

I even emailed the Royal Thai Embassy many years ago asking them if i could enter the Kingdom with my criminal past

witch they said this is not a problem and and i could travel freely.wai2.gif

When i was deported from Australia and Bangkok, all the flights were paid by myself

The crimes i commited were around 20 years ago now and had nothing to do with drugs, murder, voiolence or rape.

Is there any way i can be removed from this blacklist...?

Sounds like i might be pretty much stuffed but any advice would be very greatfull.

I have been liviing in Pattaya now for over 5 years now and have been with the same girl just as long wub.png

Personally, I think that no country should allow anyone in that has a criminal record especially a felony.

I do wonder though if when you got deported from Aus. if someone flagged you on the immigration list. Perhaps you pissed someone off and they are getting back at you.

OK, I'll bite.

Why would immigration in Bangkok refuse you entry.

Well i d say its because i was deported from Australia

Why were you refused entry to Australia? did Australia put a big stamp "refused" in your passport

Being blacklisted from Thailand or from any other country for that matter is a serious thing. That means, getting off that list is extremely difficult and often impossible unless you know the right people in the right places.

Personally I have never had to deal with such problems but If you are curious how it works here it is: once they blacklisted you, you can contact them all you want..they will not be interested. To them, you are a foreigner with a shady past therefore a person they dont want to deal with.

This will only change if-as I mentioned above-you have some contacts in certain places and know a few people who have the authority to help solving your problem.

Anything is possible if you are willing to be generous when its time to return their favor.

Good luck

Or, if your naughty, it might catch up with one some day. sad.png

Have you tried posing your question to the Thai embassy in New Zealand? What did they say?

yes but very unhelpfull

they just told me that i will be blacklisted for life

and i didint even give them my name, passport number etc.

The job im working at now requires me to work in Australia for about 6 weeks and a visa has been granted to do this

so they dont think im that much of a risk

just a shame that Thailand thinks otherwise facepalm.gif

Using the word "felony" is probably indicative of the writers home country ! smile.png

Think it was once an English term for a serious offense that is no longer used, but the USA like to use it. smile.png

Interesting that you say Australia once refused you entry but now you say you have a visa to work in Australia ?

What has changed ? Be aware that possession of a visa does not guarantee entry !

The Australian immigration computer system is one of the worlds most sophisticated.

Well just as i thought, looks like this threads not going to be of much help at all, but fingers crossed someone that knows what they are talking about

can help.

All i can say is be very carefull in your future port movements, as one tiny immigration mistake can turn your life upside down.

Have a good time in thailand

looks like Cambo or Phillipines for me beatdeadhorse.gif.pagespeed.ce.adWp7jUAu

LIKE to come back has some "unfinished business" in TH.

BUT, he cannot until now, did not find a way and sure he knew, knows many people!

So he sits in Koh Kong at the Cambodian - Thai border and can only look to Thailand.

How do you know you are actually blacklisted in Thailand?

As far as I see it you were not actually deported as such.. but moved on while in Transit.

There may be a regulation stipulating that deportees must be moved onto country of passport etc..

What was the deportation experience like, was it all done at the airport or did you spend time in the downtown immigration jail?

Please tell us a little more, particularly what has been stamped in your passport by the Thais, and what you were told by the Thais (In Thailand)

Well i was deported from Australia back to Thailand

Thats like passport taken from me, detained in Aussie, Singapore and Bangkok untill next avl flight back to nz

Being deprted from a country is not a good thing if you want to travel the world...!

this sounds harsh, but i wouldn't waste my time worrying about getting off a black list. just move on. go to a country that is very similar to thailand, and fly your gf there. maybe a country that is near thailand, so your gf likes the climate. vietnam is nice, but can be busy. which can be good. and then, in 10-years, save 1 billion baht and thailand will give you the keys to the city. money talks. smile.png but seriously, consider vietnam. good luck.

How come Australia deported you to Thailand rather than directly back to NZ in the first place?

Post a scan of the relevant pages in your passport showing the big red stamps or whatever they used. Being "told" you're blacklisted doesn't cut it - ask for proof from the Thai embassy of your home country.

Because when they deport you/ refuse entry they send you back from your original port of departure.

Mind you I could be wrong, I suppose depends on the country.

New Zealanders are granted entry to Australia for an unlimited period of stay simply on presentation of a valid passport. However this privilege is withdrawn if the NZ'er has a serious criminal record and must therefore apply for a visa before travel the same as most (all maybe?) other nationalities. The op would have been refused entry because they considered that he didn't have visa. It doesn't mean that he would not have been granted a visa had he applied.

So nothing changed.

Apparently Thailand routinely refuses entry to foreigners that have been returned involuntarily because they have been refused entry to another country. There have been other threads on TV where the same thing has happened. I recall one where some poor guy from Argentina was refused entry to (I think) Korea because immigration there thought he was dressed too scruffily. He was returned to Thailand, refused entry and detained until someone could arrange an air ticket back to Argentina which was the only place Thai immigration would allow him to travel to. A nightmarish situation to end up in.
