Chaos reigns in Parliament over a range of issues

PORNOGRAPHIC PHOTOS, chair throwing, and fights - you can see it all in the Thai Parliament these days.

BANGKOK: -- In a Senate meeting yesterday, an elected senator was caught on a camera using his mobile phone to view pornographic photos. He was caught on the camera zooming in on some photos of a woman with her genital area visible.

Last month, Pheu Thai MP for Nong Khai Pongpan Sunthornchai was caught viewing photos of barely dressed women on his iPad during a parliamentary debate. He later claimed he accidentally clicked on a link that downloaded the images.

Opposition and Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva pleaded yesterday for people not to get bored with politics, after one of his MPs threw a chair in the parliamentary chamber.

"The public should know and understand what the root cause of the conflict is. As an MP, Shane [Thaugsuban] felt frustrated to be barred from speaking, so he got angry. We try to exercise our rights within the limit," Abhisit said.

During a House meeting on a motion sought by Democrat MPs on the low prices for agricultural produce on Thursday night, a Democrat MP told the chamber that police were dispersing rubber protesters in Prachuap Khiri Khan, but the Pheu Thai Party tried to end the debate.

Democrat MP from Surat Thani Shane Thaugsuban got angry, saying there were still plenty of farmers suffering from low prices for their goods, who the government should have listened to. Suddenly, Shane lifted a chair and threw it over the desk in front of him. Then he threw another chair and broke its armrest.

Abhisit said the unruly scene in the House took place because opposition MPs were restricted in their capacity of speak.

Deputy House Speaker Visuth Chainaroon, who acted as chairman in the House meeting, was condemned by Shane. But Wisut said Shane apologised for his misbehaviour after the incident.

Pheu Thai spokesman Prompong Nopparit submitted a petition to House Speaker Somsak Kiatsuranont yesterday to investigate the incident and penalise Shane for his wrongdoing. He said he would also submit a petition to the secretary general of the House to assess the damage to Parliament's assets before filing a charge for the cost.

When Thailand has matured into a more advanced democracy, he can play Poker on his ipad instead. While plotting genocide.

At least the democrats are throwing padded leather chairs, those red rogues couldn't get beyond cheap metal furniture.

How many Thai politicians even start out with the fanciful ideal of serving the public and the nation ? They don't have to become disillusioned as they never set out with any ideals anyway.

Thai politics is a get rich quick scheme.

More like a family business - I wonder if his brother is going to comment on this?

Seems to me the "average Joe" is not very computer savvy. Thank goodness this clown is not the Minister for Communications.

Show me one country where politicians aren't crooks. Granted here and other 3rd world countries its at a higher level but even in the so called civilized Western world politicians serve themselves first and the public a distant 7th.

I don't know about that. Sounds like the perfect guy for the job.

Is chair-throwing an Olympic sport ? One which Thailand might become a Hub for ? Should there be a grant-aid programme, to encourage it ? rolleyes.gif

Or should we anticipate an imminent Crack-Down on it, with a former-DPM to be tasked to eradicate it, within 90-days ? facepalm.gif

I was about 9 or 10 years old , when I attmpted to use this reasoning to my father, for my wayward activity. His response, "well tomorrow you can compare the red marks on your ass with your partners in crime."

Which former DPM though? Being as it is Thailand they would probably want his brother to do it.

I know what the root cause is: An underdeveloped EQ makes the MP have childish tantrums.

It's probably too late to fix his emotional shortcomings, so I propose: If he acts like a child, treat him like a child, i.e. bend him over the knee, pants down and with each stinging slap on flabby bottom tell him "DON'T...YOU...DO...THIS...EVER...AGAIN!"

...and since he is a politician and leader and law maker of a country make it public and put it on TV...

Whatever their difference of opinion might be, they all agreed to allow payment of 15000 per month to some 3000 past members of this elite group. The Thai political groups seem to be leaning more toward a us (politicans) against them (thai population) mafia and the lose of control is more to take attention away from their unity in self serving themselves.

this is a good thing in my opinion. Here is an MP trying to do something for the people that are suffering from low prices on the products they

produce to better their lives and the one chairing these meetings won't let them speak.

Let the people see who are the real reasons their needs are not getting any attention.

Good on him, the message is out, the only question is if there are enough people not glued

to the TV to see it.

I'm surprised that the MP do not understand that the dropping of rubber price is a global issue and not Thai. Other countries having the same problems but you don't see MPs asking farmers to protest and demand higher price from the government. Farmers should be thought to improve their productivity and find ways to solve the problems, not creating another one. sad.pngunsure.png

I am not surprised Shane is throwing his toys out the pram, being that he and his father have been major players in Surathani for a long time (including illegal resort development) it would not be a stretch to imagine why he is so keen for the farmers to get the increase in price they want. I am sure they will both benefit well from it. I would not put it past Suthep to be the one organizing the protests(or should they be terrorists now) to throw Molotov cocktails etc If something happened in Chonburi province previously you could be damn sure Khunpluem would know everything about it, likewise Newin in Buriram, so you bet your life Suthep knows who is currently behind the terrorist acts.

Thus quotes the TVF spokesman for the pure and unsullied PTP party.

They of course have never done ANYTHING wrong at all.

Just ask him.

In fact no need to ask just read his response to my post.

blah blah blah but the PTP this and that.

This thread is not about the PTP- I know all about how much they have done wrong and continue to do so- but the opposition are also capable of doing wrong as well. Its okay, its just one thread amongst a sea of thousands of anti PTP threads- surely you can let it slide or ignore it, if you want to turn a blind eye to their faults- there are the other 1000 threads which are more to your liking.
