Since we can't write Thai Script in the General Forum ... very few ... none actually.

Unless you want the English translation of the Thai Idiom ... but that does lose it's 'essence' don't you think?

When translated into English, David, some are quite amusing. One of my favourites is: you can't hide a dead elephant under a lotus leaf. Sadly, I lost my book of Thai idioms and have not found another copy like it.

Sometimes having a daughter is like having your toilet outside the front of your house.

Think it's meant to convey embarrassment/shame

"Macaam kor deoow" is one I like. It means tamarind with one seed.

Used to describe a short person. Always gets a laugh.

i find the lao idiom "fann pai duuh" = "in your dreams" useful,

when asked for a drink or money.

"mai kin koay -mai tip" works well too

I have attempted to use some of these to help teach english idioms to my students and found that the students frequently got an incorrect meaning of the english version. However, I did learn some useful Thai idioms for around the house.

'Its better to hold a fart than a shit' can be used when accused of leaving small tips.

Are you sure you dont mean this,

กำขี้ดีกว่ากำตด

I though that translated as, a bird in the hand..........
