A Positive Achievement At Last?

I know just about every member has bad things to say about Dear Leader, but what I read today makes me hope he stays in power just a little while longer. As we all know, one of the excuses people give for tolerating authoritarian rule is that dictators get things done.

The articles in today's Bangkok Post and Nation suggest he is getting his act together regarding mass transit. BTSC will be extended at least as far as Samrong and into Thonburi from the Thaksin Bridge end of the line. BTSC and the subway will be state-owned, allowing passengers to buy a single ticket for both lines. Other train routes will be built around the capital. The deadline for completing these projects is impressive, too. Not particularly realistic, but perhaps if matey remains in power undisturbed for another year, he'll have time to give these projects sufficient momentum.
