Re the stabbing rates in the UK and Thailand. In the UK most stabbings are done in London. Allegedly they are the result of "turf wars" between rival gangs of drug-dealers. Handguns are sometimes used as well even though these were banned long ago.

Quite a number of people have been killed as a result of mistaken identity but as these killings are usually black-on-black, non-blacks are less likely to be regarded as being members of a rival drug-dealing gang.

Some stabbings are the result of dangerous lunatics being released from secure mental hospitals. These people are let loose among the public with predictable results. Two cases that come to mind involved lunatics stealing freshly sharpened butchers knives and decapitating complete strangers! In one case the killer carried the severed head by its hair and passers by assumed that the bloodstained killer was wearing Halloween fancy dress. (That particular event occurred in Spain but the killer had been detained previously in a mental hospital in Wales)

A very similar case involved a woman in London who had not taken her medication. She even boasted that she was dangerous when she had not taken her pills. In her case the head of her victim was not completely severed but the victim was dead nevertheless.

A recent case that is in the papers right now is about a mental patient who stabbed a 16 year old girl to death on a bus for no reason whatsoever. There does seem to be a lot of these people about.
