Most Popular (Worst) Passwords Of 2012: 'Password' Tops List For Second Year In A Row

"Password" has topped the list of most popular -- or worst -- passwords of 2012.
This week, SplashData released its annual list of the most common passwords used on the Internet -- and you may be surprised as to how obvious many of them are.
The top three passwords of 2012 -- "password," "123456," and "12345678" -- remain unchanged from the 2011 list, while others such as "baseball," "iloveyou," and "111111" became a little more popular this year.
New entries to this year's top 25 include "jesus," "ninja" and the highly imaginative "password1."

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

Safe again. I just changed from letmein to letmeout.

On one of my previous projects I set up a shared computer with the password of 'NoPassword' It really confused people who could not gain access when they asked what the password was. Later I changed it to IdontKnow, which left even more people confused as they were sure I should know.biggrin.png

The guy who set up the shared Wi-Fi in my apartment building thinks he is ever so clever setting the password to 77777777777.

I know of 2 restaurants and a bar within walking distance that have the same password.

7/11 the new trendy Thai password. Before it was enough to put on your best clothes on a Saturday night and go an buy a pot noodle.

Cam.

I'm still looking for the "Any" key............. you know, where Windows says "Press any key" xsad.png.pagespeed.ic.7cckm4BQla.webpxsorry.gif.pagespeed.ic.CGakzVeK4L.webpgoof.gif.pagespeed.ce.KJ2oZpgSLm.gif

True story.

My daughter had her laptop stolen and the police found it 2 months later when they raided a criminals house. It was returned to her but when I turned it on, the only available user was "Neo".

The password hint was "The One".

I wasn't really surprised when I tried "Matrix" as the password and it worked.

Sadly, all her files had been erased and Windows had been reinstalled so the baby photos of my first grandchild are gone forever.

Could be worse. You ever had "keyboard not present - press any key to continue"? blink.png
