Khao Khieu Open Zoo extends the display of Buddha relic

Visitors to Khao Khieu Open Zoo this and next month will gain double benefits. They will be able to enjoy both natural and spiritual beauty at the same time.

The zoo director, Mr. Suriya Sangkhong (สุริยา แสงคง), said a Buddha relic has been installed at the zoo since April 1, initially for a period of one month. More than 100,000 people had worshipped the relic in the month.

Therefore, Khao Khieu Open Zoo has already requested related officials in Bangkok to prolong the display of the relic to May 15, 2006 so that more people can celebrate the revered remain of the Lord Buddha.

After May 15, the relic will be returned to Bangkok.

Besides, the zoo is organising a concert of folk music on the Labour Day, May 1, which is expected to attract a lot of visitors. Singers will include for example, Mike Piromporn (ไมค์ ภิรมย์พร) and Pornsak Songsang (พรศักดิ์ ส่องแสง).

Khao Khieu Open Zoo has at the moment more animal attractions, with the recent birth of Siberian tiger cubs.

the night zoo is less thrilling .... but still a great time on a cool evening ... 100 baht pp and you ride in the tram ... see lots of local deer that come down into the zoo from the mountains and eat ... this tour is only in Thai but you don't REALLY need to understand it to get it ...2 tours a night I think ...
