Where can I buy fitness equipment for my home gym?

Hi

I'm looking to buy some fitness equipment for my home gym.

Now I'm not talking about the kind of fitness equipment fat people buy and then use to hang clothes from. I'm not interested in running machines, multi gyms, cross trainers, ab crunchers or any other gimmicky fitness devices.

The kind of things I'm looking for are bench's, free weight, barbells, a squat rack, bumper plates, kettlebells, gymnastic rings and some decent matting for the floor.

Does anyone know of where I can buy these types of things. I've seen a place in BKK that specialises in kettlebells.

I'd be happy to buy second hand or if anyone knows of any places in Bangkok or any websites that they have used themselves, I've looked myself but not had much joy.

I live in Cha Am.

Also, on a separate note, has anyone else got stories of creating their own home gym/fitness centre whilst staying in Thailand?

If you go onto the collingbourne Auctions Pattaya web site, They have an Auction every Saturday, you do not need to make the trip for nothing as they upload all the coming items usually on Thursday so you can see what is up for auction. The prices here were so absurd just for rust-prone iron dumbbells, I welded my own stuff, and rigged up kettleballs. Welding here is cheap, even having someone else do it.

Plus, there's plenty of trees for pull-ups (with hemp rope) and lots of ground for pushups. I run up and down stairs at the local school, and do kettleball lunges for quads.

I refused to pay $30 for a single pair of dumbbells. That would have made me one.

If you want to buy new Sports centre in Fashion Island in BKK. Can also try www.ultimatefitnessthailand.com. I havent used them before, but you can talk to them. I don't know of any such shops in our area that sells the stuff you looking for. Tesco in HH have the normal stuff.

Ultimate fitness thailand has great stuff I bought with them a few times. Its expensive but its professional gear.

You dont want to know how much this idiot has paid for a pair of 120lbs dumbells (2 x 120lbs) quicklock from Ironmaster. Its fair to say that shipping and customs cost more then the price. But I still don't regret it I have never seen better ones.

You can find all of the above at SuperSport in any mall, though they're quite expensive. They do decent quality bars, benches and plates up to 25 KG.

By the way, where did you see the kettle bells in Bangkok? I'm looking for some.

I have used them to stock out my 60sqm home gym, good quality and good prices. They are the main suppliers to Thai defence forces.

I have used both Gymware and UltimateFitness both reasonable products at the best prices available, Seara Sports better quality and excellent after sales service but more expensive, looking to get some rubber covered plates and dumb bells from Xercore next.

I am not so sure about seara sport being better quality as Ultimatefitness is run by a professional ex bodybuilder. He tests all his equipment and designs it too. Top quality I own some of it. I must say I also own some stuff from Gymware its powder coating is of less quality.

I would place ultimate fitness products as the top products every time. Their product is more robust and does what it has to do. Seara fitness has some nice hammer Strenght stuff and cybex stuff but I other stuff is not that impressive.

I am more old school.. heavy weights and only a few machines.

For mats go to supersports at ramkangheang they have interlocking mats you can buy.

I bought my kettlebell from bangkokkettlebells.com - very quick service, delivered next day, a bit pricey but there aren't too many other places in Thailand that sell them
