As David mentioned, houseis being built and not for sale.

David is also right I think, having a nice entrance. Let's face it, a bedroom is just a bedroom, perhaps the bathroom and living areas are the target for something special.

I suppose I'm thinking if anyone did anything special in these parts of the house to create some kind of luxury look?

Some members here have built some awesome properties that I've seen, some of the interior fitouts must be to a high standard also I would have a guess at.

-bathroom fixtures 24k gold = a must,

-direct access from home to the airconditioned stable of your race horses,

-library with a collection of handwritten or first print books/scripts, all books minimum 4 centuries old,

-open air Thai kitchen with half a dozen charcoal burners,

-airconditioned garage for your classic cars with attached 2-bedroom flat for your mechanic,

-inside and outside fluted Doric columns with Corynthian capitals and free style bases (Naam).

to be continued... smile.png

How about the butler. When he throws his hat it can chop off the heads of statues!

Whatever you decide don't forget to make it liveable and cleanable smile.png

I see far too many 'designer' interiors which look great, until you add humans, grand children, possibly pets, at which point it all goes horribly wrong sad.png

We went for a certain wow (ish) factor outside, inside is simply furnished and easy for Wifey to keep in order.

I agree with you. If I ever build a house, it will have a nice drive way and maybe one of these granit compass rose at the entry.

Go for high ceilings. Fit wainscoting panels. Install a fake fireplace with chimney breast. Avoid external sliding doors, opt for wooden swing doors. Decorate with (darkish) pastel colours. Furnish lavishly. Live the life of Reilly.

Nice living room. Care to share pictures of the rest of the house?

NB: Shoes off inside the house!

Faux Gothic arches for the twins' beds, David?

Re my post above - the mag gives the names of local companies that specialise in the exotic and different, and shows some of the work that they do. Might be very high-end, but their concepts and workmanship are worth noting.

Does the mag (also) give the names of local ladies who specialise in the exotic and different ... w00t.gif

I'm in mischievous mood today ...

Interesting accents are an inexpensive way. For instance in a place decorated in neutral colours, add a few deep bright coloured items (ottoman, throw pillow or even a "colour wall". For an all-modern decor, add the occasional ethnic piece.

And, yes, lighting is everything!

The plan is to build it in stages and a bit smaller smile.png, and of course the internal finishings will be different.

I want to go for the overall look, but i personally prefer a selection of lighter colors.

The central hall with 7.20 meter high ceilings, we intend to use this area for meetings and parties.

I especially like the staircase and the bathroom with a him and her side. At the end of the bathroom is a double shower.

Really hope you don't mean his and hers like thisw00t.gif

Curtains are so 'old skool'. smile.png

I like smart glass: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smart_glass ever since i saw it used in bladerunner to darken a room.

I think the OP wants to build his house soon, not in the next 30 years, and I also doubt outgoing from this and your earlier post that he's a multi billionaire.

You are right when you are living in the eighties, but now 30 years later in 2013 it is just an online order away.

http://www.intelligentglass.net/smart-glass-single-glazing.html

And they use it in offices, how does that correspond to your multibillionaire remark.

Does the j in your screen name stand for 'jelly'?

Sure it is only a matter of online ordering, unfortunately the link you provided doesn't offer any price quotation, and it seems that the company isn't located in Thailand as well so how would that go for import and installation by Somchai.

Maybe you can kindly provide us with some price quotations from a company that is located in Thailand.

no way sharing my bathroom with my wife! angry.gif no maid allowed to enter my bathroom without specific instructions and prior extensive training what she is allowed to do and what not. e.g. it takes considerable time (3-4 weeks) to teach a maid that my hairbrush has to be placed in a 45º angle and that my face towel is folded and placed (not hung) left of the wash basin. the full training to 80% perfection takes up to one year. our present maid is nearly 8 years with us and has achieved 90% efficiency. but i have strong doubts that my statistically remaining life span is long enought that the reaches 98% efficiency.

for the record: i am not joking!

Sure. So what I have hoped and what it will be is 2 different things. Front of the house is the lounge 12x8m. 5bedrm, etc etc.

there's something very wrong in this thread! either Crossy was already active or the usual suspects have not yet discovered it.

example:

"why do you yada yada need five bedrooms yakety-yak when you can sleep blah-blah only in one at at time blah-blah?"

Jbrains right, krisb is far from billionaire. Still there are somethings I will spend some extrea money on to make the place look good. Morakots room pics are really nice, and I would like it if Jbrain put a pic of his ceilings up if he chooses to do so at his discretion. Lots of guys and girls have built awesome properties in Thailand so respect and well done.

Naam, I feel sorry for your maid. Not to mention the butler :D

Is the toilet paper hung clockwise or anti-clockwise Naam?

the toilet paper is placed in its holder that it rolls off clockwise (seen from the left) and counter-clockwise (seen from the right). most important is that the unsightly roll is always hidden by a hanging towel next to the bidet.

Mrs Naam is even more extreme. the toilet paper is hidden by the curtain of a window that is placed in her toilet and bidet recess of her bathroom.

off topic toilet paper... one of the most important features in a bathroom is an electric exhaust fan who's function cannot be replaced Thai style by opening a tiny window.

you arrogant Farang bla-blah just want to show off yakety-yak by building an ugly huge house to impress some poor Thais! most probably you will also be yada-yada stupid enough and waste a huge amount of money on a couple of very expensive cars whereas a Honda Wave will also transport you from Point A to Point B laugh.png

addendum: and i'm sure you'll install unnecessarily some energy wasting aircons instead of adjusting to the heat and have a few fans circulating hot air in your rooms.

Kris,

very important is that the luxury look does not clash with functionality! both, design and functionality have to be matched and balanced, which is not an easy task. and no architect and especially no interior designer will match your actual own desires and wishes especially as you are not sure at all what you want exactly. they will just force their own ideas on you.

my personal view is that 90% of "àssitect" designed homes (no matter what country) are based on despicable mental thoughts originating from sick brains.
