I think I want to spend more time in Thailand. My current visa expires November 6. I am in Ao Nong and have a flight booked back to BKK on Nov 6, because I was originally going to fly back to the USA. It is going to be hard for me to change that flight today Nov 4 in the PM. So I think the best I can do is get to BKK on Nov 6.

1: Can I quickly fly up to Vientienne or maybe Cambodia, wait a night then turn around the next morning and fly back to BKK? Just the usual 30 day visa stamp would be sufficient

2 :I am also thinking about getting the 60 day tourist visa also in case I change my mind and stay here through New Year's. Is there a visa company in the airport at BKK that can help me get the Thai Tourist Visa if I decide to go that way? How a bout a late night flight out of BKK to Laos or maybe even Cambodia?

Either way it looks like I can't fly out of BKK until Nov 7 so I will over stay by one day. No problem paying the 500 baht.

Thanks

As a US-citizen you can also just drive to the border, enter nother country and return. (There is no need to stay a night in another country, you can come back the same hour).

Depending on wher you go, you can use the service of a visa agent in that city. You can not use a visa agent at the airport, but there are agents that orgnise trips by land transport. Laos or Malaysia would be best, as it takes only 2 days there and 4 days in Cambodia.

Land border crossings only give Americans 15 days. Russians get 30. I did one land crossing already this trip. I should have planned better and exited for a few days and gotten the tourist visa and come back, but I didn't

US passports get 30 days from latest reports this week - G-7 nations now get the old 30 days on land entry.

I did a Cambodia Land Visa Run from Pattaya on Oct 24. I only got 15 days, actually 14 days. They even shorted me one day. Are you saying that as of today a USA citizen would get 30 days on a land crossing?

That is the way it looks but not confirmed.

We need some more members to report.

OK. Would like to hear anybody else that has done itrecently besides me. I suspect few have beause they were expecting the 15 days and would not even attempt it.

It apparently started on the 1st of this month. They didn't short you a day the 15 days includes the day you enter the country.

Yes they did short me. I made the border run on Oct 24. Visa stamp says Nov 6. I can't get 15 out of that no matter how I look at it. But thanks for the other info.

Now that you have given the dates we can see that you have indeed received a wrong date stamp. (It is nationals of Cambodia who get only 14 days, I believe)
