A body panel fell off a Boeing 787 Dreamliner operated by Air India as it came into land on Saturday, the latest glitch for the high-tech jet that has suffered a string of mishaps since its introduction two years ago.

As I understand it, the manufacture of the various components was outsourced to companies not controlled by Boeing.. They must be rueing that decision if it is the case.

If anyone a found a 200 Kg panel in your backyard please send the parcel back to Bombay... in emergency!

And to make it worst, few days ago, on a Japan Airline flight, the battery got once again some problem.

The ceo of JAl must be completely mad at Boeing, wonder if they will order the new B777X.

My Sister and her husband will be visiting me next month in Bangkok from Boston, Ma. They got return tickets, BOS-BKK on JAL for $944...flying on the 787. Even in high season, it seems JAL is having difficulty selling seats in the 787. Their fare was close to $500 below the next nearest competition.

I might encourage them to bring their own roll of duct tape.

Nothing new. Boeing has always outsorced components.

This time it was on a greater scale. Doesn't seem relevant to this event now though.
