HONG KONG: -- Cambodian Jasmine rice wins the award for world's best rice at the 2013 Rice Traders World Rice Conference held in Hong Kong.

Heang Kimsour, Managing Director of Eang Heang Import Export Co. Ltd, said that the competition, which ended Thursday, awarded Cambodian jasmine rice as best in the world.

The Cambodian delegation that attended the conference, brought more than six different kinds of rice along to be judged.

This is the second time that Cambodian rice had been awarded world's best rice, the first award came last year in Bali, Indonesia.

To Yingluck and her croonies - we salute you for this disaster; a mere 35 years ago Cambodia was dead, dead, dead and war torn - rose from its ashes. Congratulations to Cambodia are in order.
Maybe Somsak needs to be passed on this message on what kind of fantastic crowd of crooks he voted into office again!

But, but, to truly enjoy the flavour, it has to be made in to noodles - Pad Thai, actually. So there!

OW, that's gotta sting, no wonder they are importing it into Thailand, its both better and cheaper.

Cambodia shipped 28,350 tons of rice in May and 146,854 tons in the period January-May, up 127% from 64,581 tons the same period last year. If Cambodia continues at this pace, export shipments would reach about 350,000 tons by year end, up from 205,717 tons shipped in all of 2012. http://oryza.com/content/cambodia-ships-146854-tons-rice-january-may-127-last-year-thailand-china-remain-top

Yes - Cambodia was in a terrible situation. Hun Set has done a fantastic job in governing the country on the road to recovery. If Thailand could only find someone like Hun Set then ........................................... whistling.gif

The dilemma around the Thai rice always makes me think- would the Saudi’s be so stupid to mess around with their oil, Idaho with its potatoes, Germans with their beer and the French with their cheese?

I prefer basmati myself. Don't know if it's the way Indians prepare it or what, but the cooked grains are not slimy and taste better. Not that I eat that much rice anymore, got an overdose in the first two years.

And now a comment from the Thai Government, xblink.png.pagespeed.ic.AQgCnSOpp_.pngxsick.gif.pagespeed.ic.tVTSNn-2vr.pngxunsure.png.pagespeed.ic.E7Vo3qsmeC.pngwacko.png.pagespeed.ce.jGW10VtQsI.pngannoyed.gif.pagespeed.ce.EWbqpZ7s0b.gif
