OTOP Festival: fire trap?

Featured Replies

I went to the OTOP Four Regions Festival at Saphan Hin yesterday and was surprised to find they have set up huge air-conditioned tents to accommodate 200 stalls, a stage, and dining area. There is all sorts of wiring and food cooking inside this makeshift enclosed space and, even worse, just outside and also under a canvas cover people are cooking over huge grills on open flames.

I see this event is sponsored by both the PPAO and Phuket City, as well as Central Government agencies under the slogan "The Power of Thai Wisdom".

I really hope a fire doesn't break out there; it seems like another real fire trap to me, and hardly necessary this time of year when the weather is typically so nice.

Didn't they learn anything from the SuperCheap, Tiger Disco infernos?

Risk is accepted as a part of life here, risk prevention not even thought about. What happened happened, no reason at all to think about it again.

The only reason there is risk prevention in certain areas/places is because of outside pressure.

Fire extinguishers are expensive (and as rare as rocking-horse poo).

Nothing to do with the price, simply not even though of.
