Hi guys,

Does anyone know the best exit from the highway to go near Nana? I am driving down from the North and i do know the exits to Sathorn and Sathupradit and Chatuchak etc but not sure the best exit closest to Nana. Don't want to get caught up in any protest areas.

Any info appreciated.

I drive from the north and take the toll road from Bang Pa-in all the way, 115 baht in October. I follow the signs to Bangna and get off at the Sukhumvit exit. It dumps you off on Sukhumvit at Soi 1. Turn left, it's single lane until you get to Soi 3 and then opens up to 4 lanes. I usually park at Foodland on Soi 5 and take taxis from there. If you want to go the other direction, enter any of the even number Sois or get back on the highway north you will have to go to the Asoke traffic light and u-turn. When you get back towards Soi 4 if you are going to get on the highway north, you need to get in the right hand lane and crossover to the other side of the road at Soi 4. The entrance to the high way is just past the train tracks on the right.

Right now, Sukhumvit eastbound is completely blocked by protesters in front of Terminal 21 at Asoke. (1:00 PM Friday)

Last time, they were all gone by about 2:00 or 3:00, but who knows.

If you're headed south side - odd numbered sois - take the Sukhumvit exit. If there's traffic and you're headed of the north side, continue further along to the Rama 4 exit and double back (even faster if it's business hours and you can cut through the Tobacco Monopoly).

If you take the Suk exit, keep in mind there are no right turns once you've entered Sukhumvit Rd until you reach Asok junction.

Traffic flowing both ways on Suk past Asoke now.

News reports have the Asoke protesters marching to the US Embassy now, but all I can confirm is traffic is flowing.

You can get to Soi 6 from Soi 4, but you still have to go to the Asoke traffic light and do a U turn. The first trafic light is at SOI 3/4 but you can't make a right turn You used to be able to make a left on the next small Soi and then another left on one of the next small Soi and then a left on Soi 3 and go straight across at the traffic light to Soi 4, but the last time I tried it they had the small soi blocked and charged me 50 baht to go through.

Another option is to turn right on Sukhumvit when you get off the highway. Go to Wirelees road and turn right. Then go to Soi 3 and turn right. That will take you to the traffic light on Sukhumvit and if you go straight across you are on Soi 4 and can turn left to get to Soi 6. The first left doesn't go through to Soi 6 you have to go down to Chai -Saman. Good luck!

One thing I left out above if you go the wireless road route is that after you turn right on Wireless you have to go to Petchaburi road and tur right and then to Soi 3 and turn right.

Soi 6 is only a very short walk if you park in Soi 5.

Any problem parking in Foodland you can always park in the Amari for a small 'consideration'

Don't know about today but the Suk/Asoke intersection was to be avoided yesterday

Yes you can do that if you know somewhere to park.

Otherwise parking Soi 5 and walking is a good option, plus it's not far and easy from the motorway exit.
