BANGKOK, Nov 30 -- Deputy Prime Minister Pracha Promnok on Saturday reiterated that the govenrment would not use force to disperse the anti-government demonstrations, calling on protest leaders to negotiate an end to the political turmoil.

Pol Gen Pracha, standing in for Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on her weekly TV programme "Yingluck Government Meets the People," stated that the govenment has no policy to force dispersal of the demonstrations and that the premier has instructed the use of negotiations.

National Police Chief Pol Gen Adul Saengsingkaew, National Security Council (NSC) secretary general Lt Gen Paradorn Pattanatabut also made appearances on the TV programme.

Gen Pracha said that the Centre for the Administration of Peace and Order (CAPO) has negotiation teams and that dialogue has been carried out but not publicised.

The deputy premier said that he personally has communicated with the opposition Democrat Party and Former Democrat MP Suthep Thaugsuban who was the protest leader and now acting as Secretary General of the protest group.

The group now called themselves "People's Democratic Reform Committee."

Deputy Prime Minister Pongthep Thepkanjana said in the TV programme that there were proposals from various groups, calling for a mediator to seek a solution but until now the protesters did not seem to agree with the dialogue. (MCOT online news)

One should take this comment with a grain of salt, this mob of spiffs will do anything to stay in power and rightly so , as the elected government , however the demographics seems to be changing by the hour, the only peaceful course of action is to call an election with UN observers, this can either be a winner or a loser for both major parties, losing to the PTP is not an option, as they will impose such harsh restrictions , that Thailand will become a police state, so be careful what you wish for, it could back fire big time.coffee1.gif

"standing in for..." seems to be the way this government is run.

Maybe this programme should have been retitled "Yingluck doesn't meet the people'. Similarly the heading to this thread should be amended by appending 'but Jatuporn will'.

As you rightly say they are the elected government so why would they want to call an election just to appease Suthep on his crusade ignoring anything and everything that does not suit his agenda. Highly likely his dem buddies would loose again if for some reason it went to the polls- again.

Where do get this police state from? Two years of relative peace and calm and no police state, Suthep has put a stop to the calm, the first in many years. I hope he is held accountable when this is over but no doubt he will be granted amnesty!

How many time do we have to be subjected to this bullshit. "The government reiterates" is totally meaningless when uttered by an administration who have been reiterating for their whole tenure and commit u turn actions at the drop of a hat. It is a believable as Thaksin is innocent

Yes, an elected government that has been caught acting illegally, lying and cheating parliamentary procedures mid way through their office. Why would anyone think they will change behavior now? So, the people, the 100's of thousands protesting want to pressure them to do the honorable thing and resign. But this is PTP, honor, ethics, loyalty mean nothing. Lies are only "white lies" and ethical. They will hold on at all costs and consequences because the boss has told them too. He can't risk derailing the gravy train, the only train not likely to derail, or losing his whitewash when another lie becomes apparent when the puppet sends the whitewash bill for approval. Sneaky eh ?

No police state - where have you been living? Remember the defamation suits, threats to free speech, threats about using social media ?

" will not use force against the protesters " When people are being shot dead or injured, why not it's the only way sometimes.

Al I can say if the current reactions by this puppet government are not a show of force I dread to think what would happen if force is used, whistling.gif

I wonder if Yingluck will be able to keep the dogs at bay as long as Abhisit did before cracking? She's a long way to go yet but at least she has the support of the police as well.

And will the 'yellows' go as far as the 'reds' did to force her hand? I hope not or we could be in for a long haul.

The only solution is to call an election now.

The crowds are so small that it is easy for the police to control them. Most people with good sense have decided to stay away from the demonstrations

I agree with you that if an election was to be called and the PTP returned to full power it would become a police state. Thaksin is not a forgiving man. Especially after the amount of money he has spent creating this mess.

The only hope would be for a Democratic government with all the power the PTP now enjoy or a coalition with them leading it. The way things are going now it would probably be a coalition with the PTP running it but being hobbled such as the Democrats were when they were in power. This would in effect force the PTP to do a more honorable job than they have been doing.

I saw Yingluck on Air Asia news in an English speaking interview. She is still maintaining that she has been working for reunification for the last two years.

A decent interviewer would have asked her how white washing her brother would bring reunification.

It would have been funny to watch her try to deny and explain it all at once. I hate these pre written interviews.

When I can speak Thai with out people knowing it I wiill throw rocks at her pronunciation of English words. They were still easy to hear and understand

Most people with good sense do not make comments like that. The crowds are so large that the police have had to call in over 2,000 soldiers. Thank God/Buddha/Allah they have more sense than you and have come unarmed. As is to be expected it is the red shirts they had to be called in to hold back.wai2.gif

Most people with good sense do not support groups of thugs roaming the street, trying to take over essential services. the military is not involved in crowd control directly...at least at this time.

At the same time there is footage of teargas and rubber bullets flying on TV after Reds murdered 4 people at the University (reported on TV now).

It's a funny old world country facepalm.gif

It is going to be an interesting December 5th, a good time to avoid Bangkok for me.

I think I'd agree with you here, except that there would have to be some sort of mechanics that would keep the toxic cloud of Thaksin and all the Shinawatra clan and its accolytes out of the game. That is without doubt the biggest of the stumbling blocks, That would mean that a second precursor to an election would have to be the removal of the most unacceptable elements of the Dems side.

This is a grossly simplified statement, before I get the howls of derision.....I cannot foresee how that can be done, but the country needs a free and fair election, from which all sides will stand by the result. No bribery, corruption and illegal shenanigans. HAAAAAA OK. I shot my point down.

But seriously, that IS what is needed.

Instant poll forecast.... the people would win.

Given your views on civil disorder could you explain how you felt in 2010 when your beloved Red Shirt protesters were committing arson attacks, raiding hospitals barricading traffic and looting stores among other fun filled activities?

Strangely enough their urban terrorist activities ( the Red Shirts) do not seemed to have changed much either listening to the vitriolic hate filled speech inciting violence from that delightful peoples hero ( in what passes for his own mind) Jutuporn who as usual was leading in complete safety from the back.. Can you justify the death toll one see's from last nights matter at R.U due to Jutuporns oration and his Red Shirt lackeys actions?

The CC will hear the case against the 2.2T bill and I am sure that they will react this time.

My guess would be banishing the PM and speakers from politics.

Then things get interesting

No, I don't excuse it...I abhor violence and condemn it regardless of the colour of the perpetrators. They are as bad as each other and that is why it is so hard to see a way forward from this mess. I do feel that this govt should complete its term. It is hard to see an alternative without the risk of anarchy.

Looks like tonight it is going to get very messy under the cover of darkness.

The Gov will be desperate to have this 100% finished before Dec 5th.

A huge public holiday and sea of yellow that they wont be able to tell the difference between protesters and well wishers and there will be a feeling of national pride on this day as well.

You are supporting violence by virtue of your tacit support of a proposed whitewash of a convicted criminal who wishes to install himself as dictator nothing more nothing less.

This puppet government has resulted in anarchy .If this government complete their term as you so earnestly desire that will be the total death of what currently passes for democracy for Thailand and its peoples.

I assure you in all of my 22 years here in Thailand I have never seen such a corrupt self serving bunch of bullying braggarts as we now see in this current puppet government and I am not alone in my view either.

they already have tear gas, rubber bullets, water cannon I assume they mean wont use deadly force. Interesting to see how army act. If they are bought by Taksin then bad sad day for thailand if not and this gets rid of this totally corrupt and evil government worse I've seen in 30 years here then I for one will rejoice
