Your wife will require Tabien Baan and ID card amended to her married name then apply for new passport.

Obviously she'll require your marriage certificate translated and notarised in the first instance.

It's very straightforward.

You are already married. What she needs to do is register the marriage with the Thai government.

Step 1: have the marriage confirmed by the US-embassy (you will make a sworn affidavit to that extend, contact the consular service or look on their website. You must provide the letter and have It signed in front of the consular officer).

Step 2: Have the documents translated into Thai

Step 3: Have the documents and translation certified by the Thai consular department

Step 4: visit any amphur in Thailand and have your marriage also recorded in Thailand. The amphur will issue a khor rhor 22 form confirming this.

Now the government knows she is married to you and she can have the name and status changed.

Make copies of all documents before going to the amphur, immigration might want to see them if you ever want to apply for an extension based on marriage.

You fill out a blank affidavit form that you find on this embassy webpage. http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/service/notarial-services.html You will need to swear and attest that your marriage certificate is a true and correct document.

You will need to make an appointment before going or you will not get through the door.

You can have translation service handle the certification for you and send it to you by EMS. List of translation services here: http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/root/pdfs/translators_photographers.pdf
