Jomtien 2nd road extension now completed

Last night I went to Pattaya... I noticed the extension of 2nd road in Jomtien is now completely paved from Sukhumvit Rd. (across from the Floating Market) to Chiayapruek road. Making it easier and quicker to get to Jomtien/Pattaya and avoiding the traffic for now (not many know about it yet), especially the tour buses, on Sukhumvit Rd., Chaiyapruek Rd., or ThepprasIt Rd. It also makes it easier for the people in Jomtien/Pattaya to get to the new post office on Sukhumvit Rd., just north of the Floating Market. In case some people are a little confused about of a north/south road intersecting with another north/south road, that section of 2nd road curves.

The road is complete except if your turning toward Sattahip there is no cross over to get to the other side of the road...Turning Left and making a U turn on Sukumvet to head to Sattahip /Ban Chang direction is useless..May as well stay on Chiyapuek Rd and turn at the traffic light..

Right on. It's going to be a heck of a mess if this road gets popular with south bound vehicles. That right/U turn at Chiaypuek is already a mess. Can't imagine what it will be like soon if Jomtien 2nd road starts getting heavy use (especially if buses). A traffic light and crossover is desperately needed.

But, it's fantastic for heading into Jomtien and S. Pattaya!

Has the road surface started falling apart yet? It only took a few weeks for pot holes and ruts to appear on the first section they completed by Soi 5/ Soi Rompho.

The new road and the new footpaths near the beginning of Jomtien 2nd road already look like the remnants of a B-52 Bomber strike. Turns into a lake after 10 minutes of rain. It might have held up better if the contractors had thought of drainage...

Further down there are some fun whoopdeedoos from subsidence or sinkholes.

Near Soi 9 the 3 northbound lanes unusually turn into 2 1/2 lanes on a bend... ooops.

Another disgusting development is that they are now once again allowing U turns at the intersection immediately after the Pattaya Floating Market.

For a while now they made the traffic from the Floating Market go up the hill and do the U turn at the intersection next to the elephant ride due to the blockage on Sukumvit

I am going to assume that this is to allow traffic going Southbound on Sukumvit to go back to catch the new road

I agree that it is going to be an even greater problem with more cars trying to make the U turn at Chaiyaphruek to go towards Sattahip

Who in the world is responsible for stupid planning like this ? Can't help but think that the developers in Jomtien wanted this done to open up even more space for even more condos in that area as if the whole stretch from the statue to Chaiyaphruek wasn't enough

@ Aveabeeror2

Suppose there had to be another topic to replace widening at nth end.

@ Aveabeeror2

Please let us know when the holes are refilled, and with what. Pics too would be appreciated..

Luckily, most of us are able to read the topic title before deciding whether or not to take a look.
