Lets face it guys a month from now it will all be gone again. This is just them sayig they are working, Happens in one form or another another very often only to be forgotten qickly

Unless it's lucrative, and as mentioned, I think the driving/riding, after drinking, will be lucrative for them, in which case, the check points at night will be here to stay.

Which would be excellent if legal. And with on all Phuket checkpoint the fines being legal, I see no reason why this would be different.

Phuket Provincial Police Deputy Commander Peerayuth Karachedi (right) has prepared his officers to target foreigners at night. Photo: Gazette file “We have both good and bad foreigners here, and it’s our job to try to prevent the bad ones from doing criminal acts in our country,” Col Peerayuth noted.

Phuket Provincial Police Deputy Commander Peerayuth Karached Have no rights to say bad to any of the Foreigners. His job is to catch the criminal and put them behind bar and lets court decide who is bad.

Commander should think twice before he gives statement to media.

But the bad ones doing criminal acts in our country are a very good source of extra income in way of BIG nam cha and that's why we are putting on this latest stunt to divert attention from this.

Way to go BIB, instead of solve criminal cases committed by Thais (robbery's, taxi scam, jetski scam, rapes, beatings) crack down on foreigners and all Phukets problems are solved.

No falangs left in Phuket is worst case scenario if this BS is not stopped at once bah.gif

I agree with you.

If legal - great. However, I know a guy who had a few to drink one night, jumped on his bike, and was pulled over. He was escorted to the nearest ATM and handed over 10,000 baht to the Officer and rode off.

I do not condone drink riding/driving. Many accidents at night here are alcohol related, but if these new check points for foreigners, at night, are just going to be a cash cow in bribes, then that is a disgrace. Time will tell.

This is nothing more than legalised racism and is fundamentally wrong.

How is it racism when thai start checking e.g. vietnamese? Why do people on tv keep confusing foreigner with farang?

Well, at night, try to differentiate Vietnamese with Thais, sitting in car, approaching the gestapo checkpoint. They are only going for honkies!!!!

Yep it is a little like trying to differentiate between an Aussie and a Kiwi sitting in a car. I have to agree they will be targeting the round eyes easier to spot as a possible tourist or expat and not a citizen.

Easy , just check for the doublesized boots and u know who the kiwi is .

Lol easy to tell the difference between an Aussie and kiwi sitting in a car the kiwi has a lamb sitting on his lap and a sheep buckled beside him in the passengers seat .

And the Aussie in the back seat laughing at him saying, "Ha,ha mate, you got the ugly one!"
