The Sunday Nation

BANGKOK: -- An explosion took place yesterday morning at a fireworks factory in Angthong's Pho Thong district, resulting in one worker's death.

Following reports in the morning, police rushed to a Yang Sai sub-district factory in the middle of a rice field, which belonged to Kampanart Namphrom, and found one of the factory's two buildings completely destroyed. Rescue workers were gathering the remains of a worker, Paiboon Thongtrae, 48, reportedly scattered in the vicinity. Police are investigating the cause of the explosion.

Paiboon's wife Ratree told police that his job was to cook the fireworks mixtures. She and the two workers were filling the firework packages when they saw a sudden light followed by a loud explosion from the fateful building, Ratree said.
