Hi,

My Thai wife did a TOEIC test back in 2011 when we applied for her UK settlement visa. We currently live in the UK and she now has ILR. We will be applying for citizenship in August 2014.

Her TOEIC scores are above the "minimum grade needed" for citizenship applications listed on the "approved language test" document from theUKBA site. However, this document also states that TOEIC has a validity of 2 years. As we will be applying for citizenship in 2014 - 3 years after she did the TOEIC test for settlement - does this mean she needs to do another test?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give us.

Since 28th October 2013 the language qualification for both ILR and citizenship is an LitUK test pass and B1, or the equivalent, in English speaking and listening.

An LitUK test pass is open ended and wont expire; but, as you say, some test providers do, for some reason, put an expiry date on their speaking and listening tests.

This has been discussed in another topic with regard to FLR, and during the course of that TonyK kindly sent me the attached document.

Para 3 of this document says that an expired speaking and listening pass can be used for both ILR and citizenship applications.

Thanks so much 7by7. Your advice has helped me each step of the way throughout this whole process over the last 3+ years from settlement to ILR and now to citizenship.

That document answers my question. Where did TonyK say that document came from? I can't find a reference to its source in the thread.
