BANGKOK: -- Metropolitan police today agreed to work closely with the People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) guards to step up security patrol at protest sites in the capital following a series of overnight violence against the protesters which left several injured.

The latest violence was the shooting at Saphan Hua Charng Bridge where gunmen fired several shots at the PDRC guards injuring three. The shooting went periodically throughout the night.

Meanwhile a tour bus from the southern province bringing protesters to join the protest in Bangkok was also torched while it was parked in front of the Royal Turf Club last night. A petrol gallon was found at the partly damaged bus.

Following the violent incidents, a PDRC core leader Thaworn Senniam held talks with representative of the Royal Thai police to discuss safety measures for the demonstrators.

The former Songkhla MP of the Democrat party said after the meeting that the police have agreed to deploy more police to help PDRC guards check vehicles and people passing through their rally sites from 8 p.m. until 1 am the next day.

Very good and please don't smash vehicles to vent out your anger again. Otherwise CAPO have to tell everybody especially the Red Shirt that the police are protesters in disguise again. It's getting very embarrassing indeed no matter how thick its skin is!

Another professional showing from the Authorities.

Quite right of the Police to protect them. It is their duty and they are performing it to the best of their ability in these dangerous times.

Yingluk looked like a PM today, on Thai TV she came over espescially well. All the while, the Dems were sinking further in to oblivion.

Suthep surely has a bed in a secure hospital awaiting him as his ramblings are getting crazier and crazier. They probably going after CAT to try and stop the spread of this shambles around the globe anymore. Just hope its an important enough installation for it to become a live fire zone.

Ministry of Finance just said (again) they ain't got the money to pay the farmers for the rice they (the farmers) already gave them.

---------

These cops know damn well, there's a whole new level of fecal matter that's about to hit the electric oscillator.

The overnight vigilante attacks on the protesters continue. One might be skeptical of any police assistance in this respect, as it seems to have had no effect up until now. And it does seem strange that such a request would have had to have been made, rather than assumed.

is this a joke?

These so called PDRC guards are mostly wannabe cops who think now they are above the law!

A friend who owns a business on Silom road just contacted us on Facebook asking for help. One of his female employees was supposed to be picked up after work by a relative who never showed up last night.

Turns out while he was waiting for her he was apprehended by these so called "guards" - taken away against his will and held for several hours - they "took" - stole his motorbike and did not return it to him after they they finally let him go.

He called the police 191 - but of course nothing happened except to tell him to go to a police station.

I am waiting now for more details as to why they think they had the right to detain somebody illegally and took the bike from him.

In the meantime I advised him strongly to at least file a police report in case the bike is used in a crime and for insurance reasons.

The rap sheet is growing on these paid for thugs

nobody gets hurt because they are doing it to themselves because they cant up the anti during the day, even with threats of harming PTP ministers kids and kidnapping government MP. Give Suthep a spade and he sure digs a hole

The Met Police are now realizing that they need to start choosing sides and guess what....... It's not the government.

They are not so stupid that they don't realize that the day is coming fast, and they need to switch fast.

The first four words of the headline have me confused.

Funny ( both meanings ) you mention that

Actually, in the afternoon, I was thinking that, due to these protests Police were unable to conduct their usual tasks as taking care of the traffic ( mind you, thanks to the demonstration Bangkok has been jam free for some days now) and, obviously of the traffic offenders

I am not into politics, ( here or elsewhere ) but doesn't it make sense that the Government DOESN'T WANT any attacks on the protesters ( fake and genuine ), as attacks would jeopardise the self extinction of the demonstrations?

In that case the Police would side for.....?

Furthermore, Police are here to protect the citizens and sniper's actions are definitely a reason for security to be stepped up

Nice to see co-operation between separate parties , now if we could extend this to others who are hell bent on destroying Thailand , the future would look brighter.

they have to fall into line otherwise strings will be pulled behind the scenes and they will transferred to nakhon nowhere on a reduced salary.

Shouldn't the police agree to work for the government that employs them and simply do the job they are paid for instead of liaising with Sutheps Thaugs ?

I'd argue that people have a right to protest. The RTP should be doing their best to protect people from being shot. At the moment that would seem to mean doing something to prevent people from shooting at the demonstrators. I wonder how hard it is to watch the overpasses around the sites. Lose a little sleep. Anyway, they should be protecting people in general, both sides.

Another former Dem MP in the role of PDRC core leader.....

Nobody is under any illusion that the PDRC and the Dems are financed by the same people and co-ordinate all actions before carrying them out. I saw Abhisit and Chuan Leek Pai on the stage at the rally on Monday at the start of Shut Down Bangkok. The Dems are not contesting the election on the instruction of their backers who happen to be the same backers of the PDRC, Pad, Pitak Siam, White masks etc (add any other lunatic fringe). Not contesting the election was done to bolster support for Suthep as many moderate democrat supporters now have nobody to vote for and will never vote for Thaksin.

After watching a channelnewasia interview with Abhisit who denied any links with the PDRC I can say without doubt he is a liar. In a similar interview with Suthep on CNA he said that the PTP were involved in vote buying so it was pointless having another election. I would like to remind the Malaysian looking chap of what one of the Dem party deputy MP's said in a radio interview...

Deputy Democrat party leader Alongkorn Ponlaboot in an interview that was broadcast on May 31, 2013 on John Winyu’s show (รองหัวหน้าพรรคประชาธิปัตย์กล่าวในรายการ “เจาะข่าวตื้น ตอน 99″) stated:

“Recently, if we speak directly, they [Puea Thai] use little money. I am not saying we [the Democrats] use more money than them [Puea Thai]. [host interprets with statement "they are using less money"]. It has become inverted [host interprets and says "They don't need to use so much money?"] I say if it is like that then don’t say we lost because of money”. “For the last election, it may be because we actually used more than them. Therefore, don’t talk about this issue anymore."

spade being a spade Suthep is either in denial or he is a liar like Abhisit

Posts like this should be pinned. It is exactly the situation in Thailand and this is exactly the way most people see it. It is only the clique, there support base and some know-nowt falangs who are saying otherwise.

Nobody from the yellow side is posting anything of substance to refute this as it is a recognised truth. The Thai Coup Planners quite cynically think they can fool enough of the Thai Population to re-install their people. They are gambling on stupidity and ignorance, which is what is needed to march with these fascists.

Also pinned should be a plea for people to read more news from varying sources before they show themselves up on here.
