I'll be using them from Frankfurt instead of klm from Amsterdam, you can fly 1st class on some of their flights/segments for the same price as klm business. The miles program seems to be a lot better and also they are getting a lot of good feedback on service and quality.

My favorite airline. Am booked again for May this year in business on their latest 20% down promotion. This promotion till end of this month.

You can read the reviews on the pinned trip reports topic above (posts 13, 108 and 117).

Just one thing, Muscat airport is quite small and doesn't have airbridges so busrides, but unlike Doha, these take only a few minutes.

I like it just because it is small and verry easy to navigate.

Agreed Yermanee. After the horrible big sheds in the desert the small, intimate and somehow culturally interesting airport at Muscat is a huge relief. No horrendously long walks through shops that don't interest me (Dubai/Emirates). No appallingly bad restaurants and 15 minute rides around the aprons (Doha/Qatar) no diabolically overcrowded terminals with cr@p food (T1 Abu Dabhi/Etihad) No appallingly disorganised and overcrowded transit queues (T3 Abu Dhabi/Etihad).

Oman's staff are really friendly, even in cattle class. Some seriously good staff training has been happening on this airline. Food and IFE is pretty much on a par with those Big 3 Arab airlines.

Have put Oman Air on the top of my list with no penalty points based on my first flight with them last monthsmile.png . Unfortunately I see that there is a huge shed emerging under construction on the far side of Muscat airport. Another bland polyglot transit experience coming up in a year or two I suspectsad.png

Indeed, let's hope the opening of their new airport takes as long as Qatar's w00t.gif

I said it before, the Omanis seem to be a friendly lot compared to some of the other Gulf states and as I've experienced several times really helpful.

I highly recommend them.

New planes, good entertainment system, largest legspace (I think?), food OK, friendly staff, never a problem.

It's really easy to become a frequent flyer with only 4 round trips a year (Europe-Bkk), their lounges in Bkk and Muscat are excellent and economy hauls 30Kg and as a frequent flyer I can lug 45 Kg, yay !

Oh, and they are also almost always the cheapest carrier for my itinerary.

Yes - forgot the leg space. I thought their standard economy seats were a few cm longer in leg-room as well. I recall now that the check-in lady at London looked at me and said "you're quite tall (I'm only 6 foot), let me see if I can get you extra legroom on the LHR-MUS leg", which she did. In 5 years of travelling 5 return journeys a year mostly with the 'Big 3 Arabs' I was never given a leg-room break (though Etihad did give me an uprade to Club once).

To be fair, 30kg is given on Emirates and Etihad (Qatar at 23kg will surely have to uprate) and I suspect that if you travel 4 return trips LHR-BKK on any of the Arab airlines you would eventually end up with a loyalty card that would give you about 45kg. I struggle to travel with 30kg (+7kg cabin +5kg stuffed laptop bagsmile.png) as it is!

I never used to travel Oman because the lay-overs were too long on that route - now they seem to have revised them so you can get layovers of less than 2 hours.

If you have a longer layover and don't have access to the Oman Air lounge, there is the Plaza Premium lounge which costs only 10 O.R. (abt 800 Baht).

It has seen better days, but there's ample food and drinks, showers and even a smoking room if that appeals to you,

Anyway seems I'm not the only member here that rates them highly (even a fellow Gunner tongue.png)
