Featured Replies

5 year resident of Bangkok, would like to move to Koh Samet-4-6 months-Anyone got a contact for longstay, home stay, condo rental-Very basic needs-bed hot shower.Tubtim and Pudsa are getting a bit greedy..Thanks in advance-

Maybe stay on the mainland in Ban Phe, and take day trips out to the island?

Tub Tim have a waiting list to stay there, they don't need to give discounts.

There is a website called Google. Type in there, "long term accom. Koh Samet". Just possible there will be something there to meet your needs.

Forget finding anything of good value advertised on the Internet, or advertised anywhere, don't get involved in middlemen.

Find a cheap short-term room, then spend a couple of weeks walking around neighborhoods you like, on a moto if needed, with a Thai speaker if necessary.

Look for signs posted, talk to the street vendors moto taxi guys hair salons etc. If you're really motivated about a particular location and having trouble, make up some flyers in Thai stating what you're looking for and the price range, and offer a 1-2 thousand reward for the person that puts you in contact with the landlord of the place you choose.

Yes a bit of trouble but in my experience well worth it.

Not a lot of trouble really, Kho Samet is a very small Island, no need to spend A COUPLE of days walking around, rent a motor bike or quad for a day, much safer on a quad IMHO as the roads, dirt tracks are not very good at all and quite dangerous in places.

As someone mentioned, maybe stay in Bhan Phe, might be an idea to ask in Christies bar or Charlies Bar, directly opposite the pier where you get the boats to Samet, the regulars in those 2 bars are pretty knowledgable..

HTH..
