If I pay 300,000 I can get my stolen car back

Just a quick one,,,

Mine and my girlfriends car was stolen from her house in buriram 3 months ago,,

We reported it the following morning to the local plod.

It went quiet for about a month with no sign of our car.

4 days ago she received a call from someone in the kap choeng district, which is where you can make your passport on the Cambodian border.

The person said that they have our car and will release it for 300,000 baht,,

We contacted the local plod again with the information.

We received a call from plod again, saying that there was nothing he could do as these people were an organised gang and that if I want my car back I should pay the 300,000 baht.

Anyone got any other ideas,,

That area isn't very big,and I think the car would be easy to find.

My girlfriend doesn't want me to go as she fears I'll get myself into more trouble,,,

Should I just say bye bye to my brum brum???

They are not being helpful at all,,

It feels like they are pointing the finger at us for getting it stolen,,

I payed about 30,000 for the year and they are sort of saying it doesn't cover theft.

We did a lot of our own investigation work by sticking a picture of the vehicle on Facebook, with many spots around chok chai and surin,,,

We told the insurers about what the police have said about paying the 300,000,

And the insurers agree it's the best idea to get our car back,,,,

Grrrrr

Will get back to you on the name of the company,it's abit of a tongue twister,,

My brother pays about 20-25,000,full protection,,,,

So when we were quoted 30,000 I presumed it covered everything ,,

We have a small fashion shop for her in buriram,,,

She had business cards left in her car,,,

Along with her copied insurance details and our car finance details,,,

Nothing fishy about them easily getting her number,,,,

I know what ya saying,,,ha

That's what the police said ,,,

Something to do with gambling over that way,,and our car was taken to pay a gambling debt,,,

That's nice of them to use our car to pay off someone,,,

And it's the worst card game I've ever come across,,,

Rather play snap

An insurance policy with no theft cover. Hmmmm

A friend of mine had to retrieve a car from down there. It had been held in lieu of a gambling debt. Hmmmm

Just to spell it out for you... Thai at Heart is insinuating that the car was not stolen. More like reposessed to pay back a debt. Perhaps a debt incurred by the owner of the car, or some family/relation thereof? Something does smell about this, so I can see why some of us would consider this a possibility.

Edit: Ah, and I see he just posted to that effect while I wrote this.

if the car is still on finance you dont own it anyway ?

until the last payment is made i think it legally belongs to the finance company
