Just a quickie as I have had a quick search but to no avail.

GF has been over in the UK 2013 as a visitor (4 month stay)

Going to apply again later this year for a visitor visit to conclude seeing attractions in UK and staying with "boyfriend".

Speculation that we marry in Thailand at some point in the next 12 months (its all going OK so far and her family have told her they do not want any Dowry from me!). At what point can she apply for a spouse visa? Is there a "wait time" between her last visitor visa and spouse visa application?

At what point in the spouse visa does she take the English test? On applying for spouse visa? within the first 33 months or at the end when she would have to apply for ILR (by which time I will be wanting to head out to Thailand)

I assume she then takes her UK Life test in the UK heading up towards the ILR time?

grateful for response and I expect its a repeated question!

No waiting time required after a visit visa before applying for a spouse visa.

English test and TB test are required with the spouse visa application. She would require to meet the English requirement at A1 level again after 33 months, for a further 30 months FLR. You also have to meet the financial requirement each time of course. See the excellent pinned thread above for all info.

It's 5 years in the UK before the Life in the UK test needs to be passed for ILR.

Yes A1 level for both initial visa and for FLR after 33 months. Then it's B1 for ILR.

I think there was an issue about some English tests expiring after a couple of years and so a perceived need to resit, but I believe that's changed, or it's been confirmed that an expired A1 test result is still valid for FLR.

You'd need to confirm that though as I don't know the details.

Great. Thx for the info. I meet the financial requirements so looks all ok. Just have to pop the question (which we have talked about anyway, just need to make a special event for her)
