PM proposes EC to postpone elections of only constituencies with problems

BANGKOK: -- Caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra Tuesday proposed that only constituencies or polling stations with problems should have their election date rescheduled.

She raised the proposal during the meeting with the Election Commission. The meeting has not been concluded yet.

RT@tulsathit 1) From govt perspective, Feb 2 election will "deadlock" Suthep, making his demand for interim govt farther from reality.

RT@tulsathit 2) Also from govt perspective, being "caretaker" is so insecure. Govt wants to restore its formal status asap.

RT@tulsathit: 3) Even if impasse continues, govt at least will have "numbers" on its side. Foreign support can be strengthened.

RT@tulsathit: 4) But NACC's stepped-up effort to impeach Yingluck is very significant. It can badly complicate post-poll situation.

RT@tulsathit: 5) Mass resignation of EC officials will also create legal/political trouble.

RT@tulsathit: 6) Caretaker govt can't find money to pay farmers. Going for broke is better than continue to be broke.

RT@tulsathit : 7) Suthin's murder and today's shooting have galvanised protesters. They will also go for broke.
