Protest Site Bands

Featured Replies

This is not meant as another political debate thread - I'm just interested in people's views on the live music on the protest stages.

One of the (few) advantages of living in a protest zone is the wide range of live bands just outside my apartment. The evening entertainment tends to be well known Thai rock bands but earlier in the day there's some different styles.

Some are sub-karaoke awful - but some are really very good.

Ploenchit has a great blues guitarist at the weekend on the temporary stage (I've also seen him at Bangkok Betty's).

Today at Asoke an unusual, soulful, country and western sound woke me up and I went out to listen to a Southern Thai acoustic band. I think the type of music is called 'pua chee wit'?

Anyway - any other views?

(P.S I have got used to only having 4 hours sleep a night - but I sympathise with others living near the sites - but as a live music fan there are some upsides)
