Jet Ski Incident leads to arrest on Pattaya Beach

PATTAYA:--A Pattaya Jet Ski and Deckchair Operator was threatened with death on Monday Morning as he attempted to negotiate with a Thai man who had allegedly caused damage to a mirror on one of his Jet Ski’s.

Police were called to Pattaya Beach opposite the entrance to Soi 8 at 11am and detained three men, who were involved in a heated argument which led to a minor scuffle with Khun Supachai aged 49, the Jet Ski Operator.

He had rented one of his Jet Ski’s to Khun Nipon aged 31. The vehicle returned with damage to one of the mirrors which the operator wanted compensation for. Two friends of Khun Nipon became involved. Khun Amarin aged 25 and Khun Dilaert aged 30 were both intoxicated and together with Khun Nipon, warned the operator that they had close affiliations with the Pattaya Red Shirts and Khun Nipon then allegedly threatened to shoot the Operator if he did not drop the compensation claim.

Finally, since less Tourist are using the Jet Skis now they are turning on Thai's to make up the shortfall unfortunately for this scammer he choose a Red Shirt and we know how violent they get!!!

Careful what you wish for. If their income stream dries up, they'll figure out a way to get it back- and probably from random tourists. And they have very few marketable skillsets- violence being about the only one.

Despicable as the jet ski extortion is, it's 100% avoidable.

Getting your head bashed for what's in your wallet isn't.

As an aside, it's interesting that the article didn't mention how much compensation was being demanded for the gold plated, diamond encrusted, one-of-a-kind, classic mirrors.

The story reads one way if it's 1000 baht, but completely differently if it's 50,000 baht.

Mwahahaha unbelievable.... I suppose they asked waaaay too much for the mirror that was already damaged (but who's looking?) before the ride... and tried to threaten the guys...the usual jet ski scam. The other part of the story about threatening of the jet ski operator should be awarded with a medal, at last someone had guts to do this (a bit unfortunately though since they got arrested by police) the funny part is if u r being threatened by a drunk or high jet ski operator u pay money (biiiig money too ) if its the other way around U GO TO POLICE :) kindof unfare no ?

Sorry to disagree however Pattaya is presently full of foreigners. On Monday evening I walked from Royal Garden to down near Walking Street and walked back along Second Road, hundreds of foreigners including our usual assortment of Russian visitors.
