OMGImInPattaya
I have been wondering what's going up on Sukhumvit Road at the entrance to Siam Country Club Road. It's big as they've got 3 tower-cranes working the site. I have been told it's a new private hospital by someone plugged into the local healthcare scene. She told me the name...one of the Bangkok hospitals but I didn't recognize it. I would have suspected there were plenty of hospitals in town already but apparently some investors think there is room for at least one more. juliusk
Thanks for this update, I didnt know its gonna be a hospital. Thought it was a new condo. Apparently people arent grathful anymore if someone shares this kind of updates and his own thoughts about it. Its still a forum inhere right.... :-)?
Popular Post OMGImInPattaya
Some people who live here are interested in what's going on around them in their adopted hometown...especially something a major as a large new hospital. The built environment and its affect on our lives is if interest to many. The info in the post was fairly evident from the title and if it would not be of interest to you why did you click in it and read it? Plenty of other T-V posts and other boards for those solely interested in sex-workers, bars, nitelife, and bars. guzzi850m2
Sure it's nice to know but it's a shame if it's another BKK one, extremly greedy.
Popular Post MZurf
Another private hospital with the level of medical care of Bangkok Pattaya, or better, would be most welcome. As it is today they have cornered the market in high quality health care and facilities (yes, I know that they sometime can do a sh!tty job, but I'm talking in general terms) as neither PIC nor Memorial can compete. Having Samitivej or Bumrungrad (or similar) opening up a hospital in Pattaya can only be a good thing as BPH is definitively in need of a competitor on price (as well as quality of health care).

I will get the exact name of the hospital from my contact. She tells me it is going to be a branch of Kasemrad Hospital, out of Bangkok. I've lived in Thailand for over a decade, including a couple in bangkok, and have never heard of this hospital before. Here's what their website has to say: http://www.kasemrad.com/AboutUS.php Edited February 5, 2014 by OMGImInPattaya

Gone
I can see these cranes as clear as day and I can say that they sure dont operate often. Even as I type this, no action. I never knew that is what will be going up there.
Popular Post Sheryl
I have no info on this, and haven't had any experience with/feedback on Kasemrad in Bkk either. As Samitivej already has a branch in Sri Racha they would be unlikley to also open one in Pattaya, ditto Phyathai. No matter what the hospital group/branch, you are not likely to get anywhere near the level of expertise in a Pattaya branch that is available in Bangkok. Top specialists ismply don't live there and don't have the time or inclination to travel there. There is, for example, a world of difference between BPH and Bangkok Hospital in Bangkok despite being affiliated branches. I know people don't like to hear this but for anything very complicated/specialized it is necessary to go to Bkk for optimal care.

I never knew that is what will be going up there. Every morning I drive past at around 7:00AM and there must be 100+ construction workers making their way to the site from SSCC. Looks like a fair amount of form work already commenced at ground level Edited February 6, 2014 by simple1

For elective care Bangkok is certainly an option; but for emergencies we have to go with what we've got. From the website, it looks like Kasemrad is a mid-tier private hospital chain based in Bangkok, with several satellite hospitals around the country. Don't know about quality of care and specialists they will offer but at least it will be spanking new.

Unfortunately you are correct, although in BPH you can get the odd specialist coming down from BKK once or twice a week.

Oink
Went to the new Chic Republic opposite Big C on Sukhumvit. Looked out of the window onto a very large building site. asked the shop girl what it was going to be. Told me it was going to be a new Bangkok Pattaya Hospital for Plastic Surgery Etc. Will have to wait and see if she is right.
Phil Conners
Very unlikely to be a new Bangkok Pattaya hospital as they still haven't used a fraction of the property they have now. As Sheryl already pointed out, if at all possible you are better off going to Bangkok, but for an emergency you usually don't have that option so it can only be a good thing to get another hospital alternative here in Pattaya. JesseFrank
It turns out the the new hospital opposite SSCC is actually an Index living mall. Huge banner hanging outside the fence now, and to remove all confusion, it has a drawing from the building on it. Begs the question how they do it, as in the Index living mall at the opposite side of the road, I've never seen more than 3 cars on the parking lot at any given time. Oink
Went out for a drive today with the wife and she spotted the "Moving Sale" at Index. Big mistake going in as it cost me Baht 148,500 for a new sofa. She had been eyeing it up in the BKK branch for some time now! On the bright side it had 50% off, so there are some bargains to be had. Worth a look! Oink
Our old sofa cost us £4,000 18 years ago so bit of a bargain for the new one! Not everyone in Pattaya is broke. Horses for courses!

Very hard to get to Index at present, unless you live to the North of it, involves U-turns or diversions down side sois, a new store on the opposite side of Sukhumvit will be a lot more accessible. Very hard to get to Index at present, unless you live to the North of it, involves U-turns or diversions down side sois, a new store on the opposite side of Sukhumvit will be a lot more accessible. The entrance is just south of the traffic lights, so people who come from the north have to make a u-turn at the traffic lights from Pattaya klang, which is near to impossible as that section is over congested already. So they will have to pass the lights almost down to Pattaya Tai to be able to make a u-turn, then pass the lights from klang again. At the current location you just drive past the Chevrolet garage where there is a dedicated u-turn. No side sois involved. Another thing I will see happen is that since the entrance is just south of the traffic lights Thai smart asses will cross over right from the lights at SSCC, and get killed because the outer lane doesn't have to stop for the red light .
