Hi there. biggrin.png

My friend will come here from the Philippines on a 60 day tourist visa and wants to extend it later for the 30 days. On the form they ask for the departure date from Thailand, which is ok but.... as the visa is originally for just the 60 days and the return flight ticket is dated after the 60 days, will they let him on the departure flight from the Philippines. wink.png

If he has a visa, the airline will let him fly.

Not sure about if he will get the visa, the Thai consulate can be very difficult to deal with there.

Thank you for that. biggrin.png

He has been here several times before on a normal 30 day visa exepmt entry so I hope they won't be too difficult. However if he is refused, will he still be allowed in to Thailand when he gets here on the 30 day visa exempt visa.wink.png

Being denied a tourist visa will not have any effect on getting a visa exempt entry. But he would need a onward or return ticket within 30 days of arrival.

Thanks again for your help. What should he do now, the form says what flight number etc is he leaving the Philippines on so presumably he will need a ticket and to get that it will have to have a return date. If he buys one with the correct return date which will be more than the 30 days and he doesnt get the visa will they still let him in on the 30 day exempt or will they even ask to see it. I have never ever been asked to see a return ticket. What would you do?

Sorry I am having a bad day today, I just got out of hospital from having a kidney stone removed w00t.gif Yes it does open fine thanks and yes its the same form. clap2.gif So now what, should he book a flight for real and hope he gets the visa wink.png and if he gets refused the visa just come anyway and hope to get the 30 day exempt and then do a couple of visa runs?

I would contact the embassy to find out what they require since there is no info on their website. They may require a ticket out of Thailand to get the visa.

You could have him travel here with an onward ticket within 30 day to a nearby country where he could get a visa. You could check for a flight to Vientiane on Lao Southern airways (lowest cost). Then he could travel back overland.

I come here every year for 4 months (have been doing so for the last 13 years). I apply for a 2 month tourist visa (for some reason I cannot have a double entry). I must give them photos plus a photocopy of my air ticket aller/return. Then for the next 60 I go to Penang to the Thai consulate. No problem! In your case all he has to do is a quick 5 min trip over the border for his 30 days.

However something happened to me this time. I had to provide them with my latest bank statement showing that I have a monthly income of 2000 euros- that is about 88 000 baht. This was in France but it has never happened to me before. It caused a hell of a lot of trouble. For the second - no problem.

That was a very unusual requirement for a tourist visa application and probably due to a misunderstanding of guidelines the consulate had received. Please post the name of the consulate, so that other who might want to use it will be forewarned.

To Maestro. It was the consulate in Marseille.. I have very little to do with French people and have not been able to ask anyone else. Or they only come and get the 30 day arrival visa. I haven't been able to get the 2 month double entry for about 4 years now. You have to already have a ticket leaving T'land. I met a French girl who told me that her friends got a double entry in Monaco. I am wary of "my friends said". Sometimes they get something wrong or the friends haven't told them everything. The big problem is to get adequate info online.

I have looked at the visa requirements for Filippinos coming here to Thailand and its all a bit complicated. They want to know the ins and outs of a ducks a**. wub.png

What if he came here on the visa exempt scheme and then did a border run? Is a land border entry still 15 days or did it go back to 30 days. facepalm.gif

What about his return ticket, I assume, as you say it has to be within 30 days of arival? I am thinking to tell him to get the flight return date to be within 30 days, then once here he can call the airline and change the return date then do the border run. What do you think? coffee1.gif
