Truthfully a hetero parade would be like a white power parade in a white majority country. Gay pride parades came as a political necessity to show that we even existed and were now demanding civil rights. In any case no gay marriage parades are in the backwards nations referred to in the OP

Are you gay by any chance Jingthing?biggrin.png anyway ,while not careing what two men ,or women get up to in private ,i myself do not want to see men ,making open displays of affection to other men in public ,i personally find it offensive ,i am also sick of hearing about gay rights ,gay pride marches and the like (what would be the reaction if we had hetrosexual pride marches?).

There's nothing to stop you organising one if you're really interested.
What do you mean? All the Columbus Day, st. Patricks Day, etc. parades around the world are basically straight-pride parades.

That is just not true and that whole line of thinking is weak. Columbus Day, St. Patrick's Day etc. have nothing to do with anyone's sexuality, and homosexuals have been enjoying and participating in them, and all parades and public celebrations since the start of civilization.

I don't care if homosexuals (or anyone) want's to have a parade and I would support their right to do so. I'll either go and watch or stay home, It makes me no never-mind. That said, I would not support a public parade with a lot of people of any sexual persuasion walking down the street half naked groping each other.

A heterosexual pride parade would be poorly attended because heterosexuals are generally not defined by, nor does their whole world rotate around their sexuality.

I would like to say more, but if said anything more, the name calling would start and the mod would delete my post. Isn't it funny the way it is always the people that fancy themselves openminded that ultimately have to resort to stifling discussion? Not ha-ha funny, funny-funny.

The problem is you are so I immersed in it you can't see it. Nothing really wrong with it as 90 percent of people, give and take, are generally (but often this is fluid over time) straight. And nobody wants to deny heteros their "lifestyle" or culture. (I mean, you can have all that NFL, Fox News, Country Music, Fried Chicken, mc Donald's, bar-fights, that thing where they smash oversized trucks around...whatever it is that turns you guys on you can have it. Believe me, we don't want it!). We just ask that you respect all aspect of our culture as well.

And are you really going to try to make the argument that western popular culture (movies, T-V, advertising, the internet, etc) isn't thoroughly sexualized (and in a heterosexual direction)?

Wow, if I didn't know better i would think you a narrow minded bigot.

Oh, and you forgot hunting, fishing, NASCAR and children.

Why do you suppose "...this forum is so thinly posted to."?

That's a can of worms but the reality is that forum has very few active posters. There are a number of gay Thailand for foreigners boards where perhaps gay people feel more comfortable.

I doubt it's the the comfort level of homosexuals posing but rather their....well, you know.

No, I don't know. Please spell out what you mean; my crystal ball is out of order, so I cannot read minds at the moment.

Well. I don't think that NFL, Country Music, oversized trucks etc are straight domains.

Neither are hunting, fishing, NASCAR or any other such activities whatsoever.

Gays are everywhere, I have no doubt about that. But then, we are only (about) 5% of the population. Don't kid yourselves.

Is being straight a choice? Is being straight a lifestyle?

Yes and yes.

That's absurd. But if you want to own that view, be my guest.

If you already knew, why did you ask?

As usual, anyone that does not agree with you is wrong. Pretty narrow minded on your part.

Really, mogandave? When did you choose to be straight?

That must have been at the same time when when you were considering to be gay but chose not to. Why did you choose not to be gay?

Well, I don't know either, but in my opinion, it's the narrow-mindedness of most participants coupled with all the name-calliing and heavy-handed moderation.

I know that is why I quit posting here.

Your thoughts? Or did you want me to guess...

When I was about 14.

I did not think about being homosexual until I was almost 18.

Yeah your right, I forgot those things and lots else besides.

Of course, some members of the dominant culture can't take a little ribbing at their own expense. And don't cry heterophobia because members of a minority group, by definition, can be sexist, racist, sexual expressionist, whatever against members of the culturally and societally dominant group.

And I'm very ashamed to admit that lots of otherwise perfectly nice gay people like all those things as well.

Thanks, I get a lot of that.

Oh, did you mean to say you're? (just a little ribbing)

And as to that children thing, we gays are eternally grateful that since Adam and Adam first fell in love, you hets have taken on the task (and not inconsiderable financial burden) of birthing and raising each successive generation of gay children and youth. This has freed us adult gays to enjoy our DINK lifestyles and have fabulous homes, eat at fabulous restaurants, drive fabulous cars, and take fabulous vacations. For this we're eternally thankful.

I think homophobic comments even cheekily masked ones are not welcome.

Sent from my Lenovo S820_ROW using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

To be clear, anyone that says anything you do not agree with is not welcome, and anything the've said is assumed to some cheekily masked attack on your sexuality.

That's a lie. Please speak about yourself and stop launching repeated personal attacks against me. Again, homophobic comments are indeed NOT welcome here and the decision about specific limits and enforcement is a moderation matter. If you're only here to whine and complain about the RULES here which do seem to be effectively MUZZLING you from what you REALLY want to say about gay stuff, or about me specifically, there is the report function. Beyond that please stop with your malicious personal attacks.

Once is cute. Ten times is harassment.

Now if you want to discuss gay related topics on the gay forum without homophobic comments, you're as welcome as anyone. Nobody is obligated to like you. Most people here don't like me (and most active posters here are gay). That doesn't stop me and shouldn't stop you if you feel motivated to post here. You're not going to get a gold plated invitation though. Nobody is.

Reminder -- the actual topic of this thread can be discovered in the headline and OP.

I'm sorry, but what is it you think I want to say about gay stuff?

What have i said that is homophobic?

I'm not whining about the rules, I think the rules are fine. I like number 7. You should try abiding by it.

I don't want to talk about YOU anymore. If you don't have anything to say about the OP and in a respectful to gay people way, be clear, no more replies from me at all. Cheers.

I was posting on the gay board some time ago, but quit for the reasons I outlined about. I just stated back posting here, and already the name calling has started. If I don't agree with someone, or if I have a differing opinion, I am a homophobe and a bigot or some other such nonsense.

It grows tiresome.

I don't understand what you mean by narrow-mindedness in the gay forum or heavy-handed moderation here. Haven't seen a mod for quite a while.

Please do send examples of the name-calling though. That wouldn't be acceptable.

Okay, I won't talk about ME anymore either.

I will miss all the entertaining replies you have provided in the past, but understand completely your not wanting to continue. With all due respect, If I were you, I would not respond to me either.

Please don't allow this thread to be HIJACKED away from the topic into one about forum politics. Perhaps a noisy thread all about forum politics is needed. I won't start it but any one of you may if you want. I think it is NOT COOL for THIS thread to continue down HIJACK road though. Is it possible this can be respected?

What was the op again? Something about oppression gay tourism in Pattaya/Thailand?

Why not...especially at the major beach resorts they can enjoy themselves undisturbed. Chiang Mai too I suppose.

Pattaya seems to specialize these days in NON TRADITIONAL TOURISM MARKETS -- Russians, Indians, Arabic country nationals, and Iranians. Coincidentally, these are all areas with anti-gay oppression (to different degrees). Also Pattaya already has a strong regular gay tourism infrastructure. So it made sense that this would be a bigger deal for Pattaya than other destinations in Thailand.

I am curious about how these gay people from the oppressed nations feel about so many of their non-gay countrymen being here too (especially Russians). I get it that the gay Russians often like to party with each other, but I do wonder IF they are experiencing any homophobia IN THAILAND from other Russians. I have noticed Russian homophobia in the baht buses targeted at Thais and other foreigners, but I've never seen a mix of a few obvious Russian gays and a large group of straight ones. Knowing by surveys that the vast majority of Russian people are homophobic, and buy into the homosexuals are equivalent to pedos meme that Putin pushes, I would think there might be some exported Russian ON Russian friction here.

Given that the anti-gay situation in Russian is not improving at all, and indeed still getting worse, this may be the beginning of a Pattaya phenom that could last for MANY years or even decades.

Anyway, if you happen to socially engage with gay people from these oppressive to gays countries, how about chatting them up about their lives there and their motivations coming to Pattaya and their experiences in Thailand? I reckon some will have stories similar to tourists from France but others I'm sure will have a different perspective to share.

I am very interested in the gay Russians I have seen here but they are so NOT INTERESTED in me. crying.gif Such is life. What's Russkie for EYE CANDY?
