Extensor Pollicis Longus repair at its simplest involves a direct end to end suturing technique. Often, however, this is not possible for a variety of reasons.

Other repair techniques may involve tendon grafting or a tendon transfer.

Clearly the more complex the procedure is the more it is likely to cost.

You should consult a hand surgeon who will be able to provide a "ball park" figure for repair but remember the actual cost may vary from an estimate.

Thanks for the info

.

My one of thumb tendons(doctor calls it epl) was ruptured while scratching my back( thought it was odd, I could hear something snap inside of the wrist, but no pain at all and felt numbness on the thumb).

Initially thought it was muscle bruise, or something simple, but after examining xray film and the wound, doctor told me the thumb tendon gone ruptured!

I can hold things using thumb as normal, but cannot extend, or pull it.

Not a very big deal in daily activities.

What is the risk of delayed treatment?

Thanks

An odd means of inflicting an EPL injury !

A ruptured EPL is easily diagnosed by clinical examination and x-rays do not help!

You mention a wound do you actually have a wound (cut) ?

Usually these things are best repaired asap for the best results.

Sorry, meant area(thumb and wrist), no wound and xray photos were taken because they suspected wrist bone fracture.
