Viriyah Insurance 1ST Class - Vehicle License Office

Featured Replies

My wife's car is insured with Viriyah and has a First Class policy.

Up until last year when the annual insurance was renewed we got an additional page that had a 'tear-off' portion on the bottom which the Vehicle Licensing Office took when the annual road tax sticker was renewed. It was evidence of the minimum insurance cover required by law.

The documents that we received last September don't have the extra page and the Road Tax is due renewal.

Has Viriyah changed their documents? Before I go to the Vehicle Office without that page but with the full policy is that acceptable?

You must buy compulsory insurance. 600-900bt

The compulsory Thai insurance is separate. When you renew your insurance they usually ask if you want them to take care of the compulsory too, which you must pay for on top of your personal cover. If you use a broker they will do this for you. (AA Insurance Brokers do mine).

Yes, I know that compulsory insurance is required and, usually, when this policy is renewed, we get the separate form for the Vehicle Office. So, either my wife did not buy that cover from Viriyah when she renewed last year or the form has been lost. I think the former because she changed the policy to named drivers to reduce the premium so maybe in the confusion they did not add the Compulsory.

Thanks.

I have Viriyah and renewed a few months ago and it included the compulsory. Just got my new tax sticker last week using the tear off form that Viriyah supplied with the regular 1st class statement. Didn't have to ask them so perhaps this time around the change in policy something got forgotten. You can pick up the compulsory at a myriad of locations very quickly, doesn't have to come from Viriyah.
