Cannot access some websites since 3 days (with True Online)

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Since about 3 days, I cannot access some websites with True Online (like bfmtv.com or ovh.com).

What is strange, is that I can access normally these websites from my telephone (with True Move 4G) and from hotspots in Bangkok.

I try to contact True Online, but they did not find the problem at the moment.

Does anyone experience this problem ?

Thank you.

Both websites you provided loads for me without a problem.

Why don't you reboot your router and computer to see if it makes any difference?

Or perhaps use google dns 8.8.8.8 instead of whatever you are using.

Over the years I've experienced similar problems on ocassions...I tried clearing temp files/cookies, rebooting the computer, different DNS, etc., but it did't help. However, but, rebooting the modem/router made everything happy again. Leave the modem/router off for around 15 seconds and then turn it back on. Good luck.

My access with true was fine until saturday morning (feb 24). Since then I have not been able to access a lot of sites. I changed my dns to 8.8.8.8 and that helped with some sites but not all. I tried contacting true. they sent me a text message in thai that I cannot read. The message probably says ll is fine on their end.

OP: I just tried from my True DOCSIS (cable) connection and cannot connect to the sites you mentioned either. However, but, got through one of the True proxy servers and they pull up fine.

The True proxies are:

proxy.asianet.co.th Port 8080

or

proxy.trueinterent.co.th Port 8080

I can still access these websites from my true online docsis cable internet.

Only difference is, I use google dns 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 as dns in my router.

Here is my tracert aswell

I updated the proxy settings on my Chrome browser on Mac OS X, and I succeed to access the websites with the proxy.asianet.co.th:8080 proxy.

The remaining problem now, is that I also use some other applications that use these domains (i.e. Mail app for my emails hosted on ovh.com, Filezilla FTP to access files on ovh.com, and Blink SIP app for Internet telephony hosted by ovh.com) .. and still have no access from these 3 applications.

I am not familiar with proxies and DNS, but I performed a ping test directly on IP address 213.186.33.34 which is ovh.com address >> not working (request time out)

You don't know how to change dns but you use voip applications? Thats a first.

I just have 3bb internet and have noticed that (for instance) Tiger Direct cannot be accessed because "the server is denied permission to access this website."

An irritation and strange.

I had trouble the other night with Tiger Direct as well using my condo building WiFi, which I believe is 3BB. I used a VPN (Strong) and it connected normally. Without the VPN it matters not if I use Google DNS or not -- no Tiger Direct.

Just tried again now, and same error:

Access Denied
You don't have permission to access "http://www.tigerdirect.com/" on this server.

I have the exact same problem at the exact same hops as you with different websites. All started on Saturday morning as well. I am using a Google DNS as primary and a True DNS as secondary. Have already flushed DNS cahce, rebooted router, rebooted computer, etc... So, I guess we just wait and see.

Everything is working fine now on my side with my previous configuration (no proxy and True DNS).

I can now access all the mentioned websites after 4 days of interruption.

I have contacted True Support yesterday, and they said that a technicians will take care of this problem in the 24 hours. I do not know exactly what happen...

It's obviously a True problem. So sites will connect but no content comes through. Then set my VPN to Closest Locations (Thailand / Singapore) and it loads immediately.

This one was easy to guess...

Who seriously uses Internet explorer nowadays except someone who is not interested by anything online ?

Because, Mr Know it all, some sites actually need IE and some hardware, eg IP cams, use ActiveX GUI's... so there, stick that in your narrow minded pipe and smoke it. Geez, what is it with some people, simply because you don't use the browser they use, they start become all hi n' mighty.

Yes, VPN is the best solution to work around True's crappy servers.

They use transparent proxies, that's the main reason for all the failures which go on for years. But even if you use their official proxy, it is on/off, never works more than a few days.

Same problem here.

I have True 100Mb cable in Bangkok downtown.

I tried with 4 devices, many system, many browsers.

if I use another connection everything is ok. Proxy, vpn everything is ok.

DNS: I changed to google and even to my own company dns server, at beginning ok, after a while bad as before.

I restart the router many times, and left it off for minutes: nothing.

Mostly with some specific contents (png, jpg, javascript) from 4 days.

If I use a command line (terminal) to get the content everything is smooth.
So,
It's from True side: 100%.
It's a sophisticated filter active on same contents requested from browsers.
It looks like a traffic shaping or censure system on True internet gateway.
I recognize the symptoms, A network specialist (if you know one) can confirm that.
True Call center doesn't know how to manage. I have a friend at True customer care
and they really don't know. I stopped to bother them. I gave to them a picture of the issue.
It's something hidden and dirty.
I don't think is traffic shaping, cos if they activate a filter to avoid huge download (even misconfigured)
at least for other contents (allowed like you tube) we should notice a better transfer speed:
instead is crappy as usual.
The only left is the censure, and it's possible considering the political context of Thailand today.
It could be a scoop to go investigate on this.
This are my information and my speculation.
P.S. For the speculation, don't take me too much seriously,
I finished to watch season 2 of House of Cards,
and I see conspiracy everywhere.
Shall thai visa assign some reporter to this case?
Btw, if after this post will start to work I will get my frame-up
confirmation! clap2.gif

Good to hear from someone who is knowledgeable. It would help if True could admit that the fault is by them and not the users. That kind of stick your head in the sand customer service really isn't good for their reputation.
