Advice from the Brothers -in-law , NEVER buy second hand cars from the Tents . Parts of Benz are expensive and maintenance high as well . Presently driving a E220 and occasionally uses father in law's S350 .

The market is split between gray market imports and Mercedes Thailand car. Make sure its a Mercedes Thailand car, or you might run into potential problems. Car parts are affordable in Thailand, and manpower is cheap.

Unless your brothers-in-law are involved in selling dodgy cars from tents and they were just giving a personal tip to you, or they are totally misinformed, rationally, why would anyone take that advice? That's were the vast majority of cars are bought and sold in Thailand. From personal experience and that of a number of friends here, both Thai and foreigners, I have never heard of any bad experiences of purchases from the tents.
