Severe monsoon warning issued for Thailand with heavy rainfall
The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has issued a warning for severe monsoon conditions across Thailand, particularly in the northeast and eastern regions, with heavy to very heavy rainfall expected. Residents are advised to be cautious of sudden flooding and flash floods, while the sea will experience waves up to 2 metres high, prompting advisories for sailors to avoid navigating the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea. The Thai Meteorological Department forecasts weather conditions for the next 24 hours, indicating a continuing influence of the southwesterly monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand. Additionally, a low-pressure area over northern Vietnam contributes to persistent thunderstorms and heavy rainfall in several parts of northern, eastern, and southern Thailand. The public is urged to be vigilant for potential flash floods and rapid water flow, particularly in areas near slopes, watercourses, and low-lying regions. The upper Andaman Sea, stretching from Ranong province upwards, is expected to have sea waves ranging from 1 to 2 metres. In regions experiencing thunderstorms, waves may exceed 2 metres. Mariners are advised to exercise caution and avoid sailing in areas with thunderstorms during this period. Issued on August 8, the weather forecast for Thailand from 6am today to 6am tomorrow is as follows: In the north, there will be thunderstorms affecting 60% of the area, with heavy rainfall in Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, Phichit, Phitsanulok, and Phetchabun provinces. Temperatures will range from 23 to 25 degrees Celsius at the lowest and 32 to 35 degrees Celsius at the highest. The southwesterly winds will blow at a speed of 5 to 15 kilometres per hour. The northeast will experience thunderstorms in 40% of the region, mainly affecting Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, and Nakhon Ratchasima provinces. Temperatures will range from 24 to 26 degrees Celsius at the lowest and 34 to 35 degrees Celsius at the highest. The southwesterly winds will blow at a speed of 10 to 20 kilometres per hour. Using an overseas Debit Card to minimise paying tax for those of us staying over 180 days
As with all of these "Avoid Tax" schemes the problem will be if (< 0.00001% chance) TRD decides to Audit you because they see that you've not remitted any money or spent anything that you already had in Thailand, how are you going to explain what you've been using to live on? I took it out of an ATM - Whoops... Tax Evasion I gave it to my wife so she could give it back to me - Whoops... Tax Evasion Reality is that most people (I'm not one of them) will pay more tax on their income in their home country than will be owed in Thailand so no need to worry (I'm not worried & I pay no tax in my home country but have organised my remittances to Thailand so I don't pay tax here either). -

Kamala Harris's VP Choice: Did She Make Her First Major Campaign Mistake?
Here’s weird. When Vance was asked if he will debate Waltz, he replied he will only debate Harris because, here’s the weird bit, Waltz will be replaced as Harris’ VP pick. Weird in so many fronts. 1. The GOP VP pick debating the Democrat Presidential candidate is not a thing. (That would be Trump’s job, and where is he?) 2. Vance must have found the idea Waltz is to be replaced in some weird corner of his imagination, or perhaps down the back of his sofa. Waltz is not going to be taken off the ticket. 3. There is a VP pick who has failed right out of the gate, a guy who is in very shaky ground and is in danger of being thrown under the 101 Bus to Rikers Island, his name, assuming he hasn’t changed it again, is JD Vance. Voice your fears JD and hope the rest of us don’t notice.- 1

I have been a member of this forum for a long time, and come here to have a conversation with fellow expats. A waste of time!! I had stop coming here for over a year , then I came here to check messages and saw a couple of interesting threads and thought that perhaps now that the forum has new owners I would check it out and see if it has improved. I did not think it possible, but it has gotten worsts! Much worst. It seems anyone with an IQ in double digits it more has left. It is now an intellectual wasteland -
