Hi

I need to get a flight back to the U.K fairly soon. I have never had to buy a ticket back from an agency in Thailand before, so could do with some recommendations of trustworthy decent agents. I am based in the On Nut area, so around here would be preferable, but I would go elsewhere in the central area for a good agent.

I've enquired before at the shop inside On Nut BTS, has anyone else booked through here? There's was also a shop further up on the Tesco side that I used for something else some years back, I don't know if it's still operating. I also spotted an agency on the ground floor of Paradise park last week.

I'm looking for a good price but obviously from somewhere reliable. I want a direct flight back to London. Is there much of a difference between a single and return flight from this end? When I've enquired back in the U.K there's only normally 50-100 pounds difference between the two, sometimes none at all. I guess I would prefer a single as this would allow me to return with a new ticket from the U.K at a date I desire rather than have to change the date which would cost me money, although if a single/return from here is about the same price I might just buy a return and take the chance.

How much should I be looking at including all fees/taxes for a single/return (economy)?

Is there a cash discount? Is it safe enough to use a credit card, as this would allow me to claim if there are any problems?

All advice appreciated

Thanks

Any particular reasons you have against buying online?

You have wide variety of travel sites, also can go direct to British Airways site and book there...all from the comfort of your home.

Couple sites will even give you the chance to compare prices of travel site offers.

I have used BA site in the past, also expedia.com, kayak.com, etc; never a problem.

Thanks for replies. I'll check out some online sites now that you've mentioned it but in my experience they aren't normally cheaper. I've looked before in the U.K (maybe it's different at this end) and they've always been more expensive, both direct and through online brokers. Maybe they might be cheaper when a certain promotions running at a set date/time but I've never found them cheaper under normal use. I usually use them as a reference and then go through an agent who all normally match or beat the prices. Doing this I get a bit of service, talk to a real person (I'm quite oldskool) and if there's a problem I can call someone to fix it quickly, not converse with a computer.

I'm sure bucket shops must exist at this end so I'm still interested in hearing about any recommendations in Bangkok, especially On Nut area.

Thanks

I've used Chawla Travel for my last couple of returns back to UK... They've usually been by far the cheapest using Jet or Air India routed via India, and they also offer other carriers.

They are quick to reply to an e-m requesting info/prices, are available to talk to and they accept cash payment via a 7-11 etc.. They are based in Bangkok but I'm not sure where..

[email protected] or [email protected] - but I'm not sure if I can post em addresses....
