BANGKOK: -- A M 79 grenade was fired at anti-government protesters rallying in front of the Shinawatra Tower 3 on Phaholyothin road late in the evening yesterday and exploded.

Nobody was injured as the grenade landed about 100 metres away from the rally site.

Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) police arriving at the scene said the grenade landed at a pavement about 100 metres off the protesters.

EOD police said the firing was to intimidate protesters.

Protesters rallied at Shinawatra Tower 3 as part of the People’s Democratic Reform Committee to cripple the businesses of the Shinawatra family.

Meant to intimidate? Move along folks, nothing to see here ... if it had killed someone (let's say a child at a noodle cart) 100m away from the protestors, it would've only been accidental.

Amazingly rapid analysis by the BiB on the scene - now they're able to read perps' minds by looking at a hole in the ground!

The police immediately ruled out bad aiming, since all Thais always hit what they aim for, it's genetic...

They also ruled out shooting under the influence, since Chalerm had a water(?)-tight alibi...

Strong winds were also not an issue, since weather controlling amulets are in use all over Thailand, making floods etc. a minor nuisance...

So, that leaves only a well-placed shot intended to frighten the protesters, couldn't agree more...

For someone or some people, the combination of a PDRC protest and their presence at a Swinawatra complex was enough to put them over the top. We do not need the police to sort this one out, nor does anyone else above the age of two. But what is immediately apparent is that there are two classes of people being highlighted here. Those who speak with the power of their voices and conviction. And those who speak with grenades. One fills their minds with thoughts and ideas. The other with explosives. The people who step up to protest peacefully are of the conviction that that is what makes a free society. Those who throw bombs at these people would be far more comfortable blending in with Afghanistan.

One would assume that if it was a PDRC protestor attempting to garner sympathy the police would be falling over themselves to catch the culprit. All the attacks aimed at PDRC protestors over the last 3 months including the brutal terrorist attacks that claimed the innocent lives of 4 children have not raised a single suspect. Not one. If it is the PDRC as purported by the gullible, the police would catch them and parade them in front of the world stage and say "We were right it is the PDRC" Nope. Not one caught.

One red shirt leader is attacked and within days they have the suspects and are questioning them. So they have us believe when the PDRC attack red shirts they are clumsy criminals that get caught. When they attack themselves they turn into brilliant slick criminals that always get away.

People talk about justice. So do I. Completely biased towards the terrorist wing of the PTP.

One side commits a crime and it is overlooked and the supporters have the audacity to say it was the PDRC supporters shooting themselves.

The other side commits a crime, is punished and the supporters have the audacity to call it a judicial coup.

The only way the PTP could actually be as innocent as their blindly devoted supporters suggest is if they didn't exist in the first place.

Not one single suspect, well considering that bad guys tend not to wear I'm a bad guy t-shirt and have I'm a bad guy ID and always carry their M79's across there backs in broad daylight, in a city of 6,000,000 people, that is the preverbial needle in a haystack, then add that to the 50-60 Million people who have no love for Suthep in the first place, it's like trying to find a particular grain of rice in a rice paddy!!

I'm not defending their incompetence, but seeing as you, and many others seem to know more than the Police, perhaps you're in possesion of a list of names that states "Bad guy" on it??

Dude, they've been trying to catch terrorists in Iraq for 11 years, simply because they have no leads.

The Other side commits a crime, okay, so lets put every member of the PTP and anyone else who has a grievence with the PDRC, to include some pissed off yellows.. that my friend is a mountain to start processing.

Unless someone knows who at least ONE of these grenadiers are, they're searching for Ghosts..

I'm also not naive enough to think they're being less than caring, and more than likely have no interest anyway, but that's what happens when you clash with the people you want off the streets, and get condemned for your actions, you adopt a less than give a toss attitude back ;)

Another mystery attack in an empty area with no one hurt and very little damage, but a lot of propaganda value!

As happens so often!

Cheers

A another post empty of facts, but spun with propaganda to implicate anti government protestors.

As happens so often!

Cheers

The reds from the top down aren't exactly known for their bravery. Perhaps that's as close as they dare get.

Chalerm is the one who needs these grenade attacks and shootings to keep his SOE going.

An SOE which was said to be needed to prevent violence and has achieved nothing but wasted billions of Baht and caused death and injury.

No violence then no need for an SOE so therefor we must have violence.

The grenades always fly when the Shin Clan doesn't get it's way,

or is at risk of losing profits or power or face, or is making a major push,

and almost never do when they are in full control.

It doesn't take a CIA analyst to connect these dots.

Again a grenade.

Since violence broke out on 30 November, over 700 people have been injured and more then 20 others killed.

How much of those crazy grenade-, pistol and rifle shooters have been catched?

0, Zero, Nil?

Since 3 month the clear-up rate = 0

Everyone is free to fire his weapons here.

People die and are injured on the streets.

Fear must probably not, the perpetrators of violence.

The effectiveness of the security organs are a shame.

over the last months there have been a number of people caught with fire arms, grenades and launchers.

Yet the police do not seem to get any of those thugs to talk, or maybe the police do not want to know who is controlling them.

Will the Police "ever" catch any of these attackers that use grenades? With (as Chalerm previously stated) over 200,000 Police in Bangkok, one would have thought it shouldn't be too hard for at least one of them to be in the right place at the right time to see who is doing them and make an arrest.

Yet they have managed to catch ALL the supposed culprits of EVERY attack on the pro government side of the fence.

Yingluck and the reds constantly bleat on about double standards from the army...... How could they be so transparently hypocritical?
