BANGKOK: -- The Constitutional Court ruled Wednesday that the Bt2-trillion borrowing bill was unconstitutional.

The ruling rendered the bill invalid even though it has been passed by the Senate.

The court ruled that the bill violated the charter both in its content and in its enactment procedure, Chaowana Traimas, the secretary to the Constitutional Court said.

The Democrats had alleged that the bill violated Article 169 and Article 170 of the Constitution because the bill sought to bypass the normal budgetting process.

The Democrats also alleged that some coalition MPs voted for the bill on behalf of their peer.

Satit Wongnongtaey, a protest leader, informed the demonstrators at Lumpini Park at 1pm of the court's ruling to loud cheers.

Satit told the crowd that Thai people would not have to be in debt for 50 years.

He said Wirat Kalayasiri, the head of the Democrat's legal team, would seek an impeachment against caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra for having sponsored an unconstitutional bill.

With eyes brimming with tears, Yingluck said she hoped that the next government would continue with the project to develop the country's transport infrastructure. She insisted that it would require a special law to obtain loans for the project.

Excellent news and good work from the courts where Thaksin and his non democratic lackies should be legally dealt with. The Shinawatra's would have been using that to gravy train all their corrupt scum bag practices to date with very little spent on quality completed infrastructure. The first of what is going to be a lot more good news from the courts for Thailand in the coming months to free Thailand from the Shinawatra's scumbag dictatorial total control.

Sadly not a chance I think. The appeal will be slapped in by the end of the day if not within hours. Yingluck will want lawyers to check the 'legality' of the ruling.

I am grateful to the court for saving my great grandchildren from paying off this monstrous unnecessary loan designed to secure the Shinclan dynasty.

The court said the loan bill was illegally revised in its content breaching Articles 169 and 170 of the Constitution, and also in the passage procedure.

Ruling of the Constitution Court came after more than four hours of meeting of the 9-menber panel. Each of the nine judges will present their written statement to the media late this afternoon.

The Constitution Court also accept the petition of the Ombudsman to rule whether the February 2 general election is void or not.

The whole and single purpose of the PTP is to prevent the PTP paymaster Thaksin Shinawatra from being held accountable for the crimes of which he was convicted.

The founding principal of the PTP is the idea of being above the law.

Great news for Thailand, because this 2 Trillion Baht Loan would most likely have put Thailand back into the clutches of the IMF. Of course, all the people, who would have probably skimmed 1.5 Trillion right off the top are probably not going to be very happy.

So one suspects now some from the PTP or red shirt movement is going to publish the names and addresses of the judges involved, and the minister for ear medicine is going to predict an increase in grenade attacks in the next few days ?

I was under the impression that constitutional court ruling is final and binding to all. So not much choice about it. Now it would be nice to impeach the MPs who voted this nasty bill through.
