Insulin for diabetics.

Featured Replies

My wife and I are currently visiting my parents in Australia. My wife has had type 2 diabetes which has been managed by tablets, up till now, she has just been told she needs to use insulin from now on due to what is left of her pancreas ceasing to function. She has been prescribed two types of insulin, lantis and novorapid, both are administered by way of injector pens, are both of these insulin products available in Thailand?

Thanks.

Tom.

I think you probably mean "Lantus", which is available in Thailand.

NovoRapid Penfill/NovoRapid FlexPen is also available.

Both are Thai FDA category D (Dangerous Drugs), so will only be available at top pharmacies and hospital pharmacies. They are not prescription only, though, which is good news.

Thank you, it's good to know we can get it when we return.

That is one of the two my wife is learning to use during her stay in hospital, the hospital is also teaching her to use the ActRapid injector, our GP gave a prescription for the NovaRapid, the two have different needles, but that's not insurmountable.
