Does anyone know the transport options from Buriram Airport to Surin?

Is there a bus or minivan? Taxis? I searched online and couldn't find much.

Thanks in advance!

Well I might as well answer my own question here:

  • Buriram Expats Car Rental doesn't offer transfer from BFV to Surin city center.
  • There's a transport counter at BFV with vans and limousines going to various places. I'll try to snap a photo when I go back.
  • 1400 Baht to go to Mueang Surin via "limousine" i.e. an old Toyota Tercel equivalent.
  • The car from BFV-Surin cost almost as much as the BKK-BFV flight.

Thanks for the update. Definitely back to this then.

Here's the transportation counter price list at BFV: http://imgur.com/24w7t29

The first number is distance in km, the second is the price in baht.

Surely there is a less expensive way to get to these places - you'd probably be better off hiring a personal driver off the internet.

You see all the posts about the additional expense of the 'extended' family, you remember the ones, best to marry an orphan!!..........well you know...... a few baht for diesel, an ice cream and soda for the inevitable bunch of kids along for the ride, pick up some fruit and snacks on the way back,......an enjoyable excursion......

Sure beats moaning about 'ripoff' taxi fares..smile.png.......besides I expect it is just not quite the same giving the taxi driver a big hug on arrival....sad.png

The prices are crazy, aren't they? It's even worse than Phuket, and I didn't think that was possible. Taxis in Los Angeles might be cheaper than this.

The weird thing is - there are no other flights going in and out of BFV as far as I can tell, so the airport just has that one flight and that's it.

I love the little turboprop plane they use, though. Just bring your earplugs if you ever use that flight - the engines are loud as heck.
